The Explosive Fitting Mark 19 Mod 1 is a hexagonal explosive-loaded housing threaded at one end for mechanically connecting with a mating component. From the other end of the hous
3、ing extends a length of two-conductor cable terminating in a pair of phone tips by way of which a firing voltage is applied to the fitting. The explosive element of the fitting is the Explosive Actuator Mark 22 Mod O which is secured by potting within the threaded end of the housing. The electrical
4、leads of the actuator connect within the housing to the terminals of the cable. tips of the cable after loading of the fitting, serves to maintain the fitting in an electrically safe condition until removal of the clip prior to mounting of the fitting for service use. 3.2 First article sample. Unles
5、s otherwise specified in the contract or order, a first article sample of the fittings shall be manufactured and prepared for delivery using the methods and precedures proposed for the production lot. The sample is for the purpose of determining that, prior to starting production, the contractors pr
6、o- duction methods are capable of producing items that comply with this specification and the design. the contract or purchase order. 7、 con- struction, and dimensions for the Explosive Fitting Yark 19 Mod 1 (empty) and Explosive Fitting Mark 19 Mod 1 (loaded) shall be in accordance with the requirements of LD 516150 and LD 516153, respec- tively. Examination shall be in accordance with 4.7. 3.3.2 Interchangeability. Component parts
8、 of assembled units (unless otherwi-se specified on the applicable drawings) fabricated in accordance with applicable drawings shall assemble with mating components of the unit without selection for fit or performance. 3.3.3 Threads. Unless otherwise specified, al 1 threads shall be in.accordance wi
9、th the National Bureau of Standards Handbook H28, 3.3.4 Soldering. Soldering shall be in accordance with Requirement 5 of MIL-STD-454. 10、nce requirements and product characteristics. The fittings shall meet the following performance requirements and -. product characteristics: 3.4.1 Empty assembly. The fol lowing requirements chal 1 pertain to the components of the explosive fitting prior to their -. assembly as the explosive-loaded
11、device. 3.4.1.1 Cleanliness. All components of the empty explosive fitting shall, at the time of acceptance, be completely clean of corrosion, metal chips, oil, grease, dirt, dust, or the like. cleaning shall not damage the surfaces of the components or leave a contaminating residue. Any agent used
12、in 3.4.1.2 Cable assembly. After potting the Shell, Drawing 2289314, and molding it to the cable in accordance with Drawing 2289986, the shell shall withstand a five-pound pull for a minimum of ten seconds without separating or slipping. 3.4.2 Loaded assembly. The requirements of 3.4.2.1 through 3.4
13、.2.7 pertain to the loaded explosive fitting. 3.4.2.1 Cleanliness. All components of the explosive fitting shall be free of dust, oil, grease, metal chips, filings, moisture, corrosion, and such other forms of contamination. 3.4.2.2 Explosive actuator. The Explosive Actuator Mark 22 Mod O shall have
14、 met acceptably all requirements of WS 2090 within 6 months prior to its assembly within the Explosive Fitting Mark 19 Mod 1; documentary proof thereof shall be submitted with each lot of explosive fittings tendered for acceptance. 3.4.2.3 Insulation resistance. The insulation resistance between the
15、 shorted terminals of the explosive fitting and the housing shall be 50 megohms or greater when measured at 500 i- 50 volts DC. This requirement shall be met after conditioning the explosive fitting for no less than 24 hours at a temperature of 78F 5 2F and a relative humidity of 75 5 5 percent. 3.4
16、.2.4 Bridge wire resistance. The bridge wire resistance, when measured at the phone tips of the assembled explosive fitting, shall be between 8 and 13 ohms. - 3.4.2.5 Leakage. After assembly and potting, the explosive fitting shall be capable of withstanding a 100 PSIG hydrostatic pressure applied f

18、mmediately following the loading operation, the leads of the explosive fitting shall be shorted by the Binding Post Spring, Drawing T853142. The binding post spring shall remain on the fitting except during electrical testing and then be replaced until the fitting is installed for service use. When
19、mounted in the binding post spring, each phone tip shall withstand an axial pull of no less than 2 pounds without pulling free from the binding post spring. 3.4.2.7 Function. The Explosive Fitting Mark 19 Mod 1 shall function when the first discharge of a 1 .O microfarad capacitor charged to 40.0 A
20、1.0 volts DC is applied across the phone tips of the fitting. 3.5 Envi ronmental requi rements . 3.5.1 Vibration. The loaded explosive fitting shall meet the requirements of 3.4.2.3 through 3.4.2.6 after being subjected to the vibration test of 4.8.1. 3.5.2 Shock. The loaded explosive fitting shall
21、meet the requirements of 3.4mthrough 3.4.2.6 after being subjected to the shock test of 4.8.2. 3.5.3 Temperature and humidity. The loaded explosive fitting, packaged as in 5.1, shall meet the requirements of 3.4.2.3 through 3.4.2.6 after being subjected to one 14-day JAN TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY CYC
22、LE in accordance with MIL-STD-331, Test Method 105.1. 3.5.4 Jolt requirement. The loaded explosive fitting shall not fire or become unsafe when subjected to the jolt test of MIL-STD-331, Test Method 101.1. 3.6 C1 eanup. Al 1 parts, components, and the assembly shall be thoroughly cleaned of loose, s
23、pattered, or excess solder, metal chips, and other foreign matter. 3.7 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be in accordance with . Requirement 9 of MIL-STD-454. 3.8 Safety precautions. The packaging sha examined to determine conformance to 5 herein. 1 be 4.7.2 Explosive fitting test (empty). The followi g examination and tests pertain to the components of the Explosive Fitting Mark
44、 19 Mod 1 before mounting therein any explosive element. 4.7.2.1 Vi suai exami nati on (Sampi i ng) . dimensionally examine in accordance with Drawing 2289984 to determine compliance with the appropriate drawings (see 3.3.1) and this specification. 4.7.2.2 Soldering examination (Sampling). Prior to
45、soldering the wires to the connector, examine the subassembly to determine that all connections are mechanically secure. After soldering, examine the subassembly to determine that all excess flux and solder spatter have been removed. 4,7.2.3 Cleanliness examination (Sampling). Verify that there are
46、no burrs or sharp edges and no visual evidence of moisture, corrosion, or other contamination of the assembled explosive fitting. 4.7.2.4 Cable assembly (Sampling). Following the potting and molding procedure specified on Drawing 2289986, suspend the cable with the pins down. Attach a five-pound wei
47、ght to the pins for ten seconds. Verify that there is no separation or slipping of the shell. 4.7.3 Explosive fitting test (Loaded). The following tests pertain to the loading procedures and loaded explosive fitting. Vi sua1 iy and CAUTION: No electrical test of any kind shall be performed upon the
48、loaded explosive fitting without the fitting first being inclosed within a suitable test pot or shielded to prevent injury to the operator should inadvertent firing of the fitting occur. 4.7.3.1 Explosive actuator acceptability (Sampling). Verify from documentary evidence submitted with each lot the
49、 acceptance date of each lot of explosive actuators tested in accordance with WS 2090. Explosive actuators which have not met the requirements of WS. 2090 within 6 months are not acceptable for assembly into explosive fittings. 4.7.3.2 Cleanliness examination (Sampling). Immediately prior to loading, examine all unassembled components of the explosive fittin
