1、 Tentative Interim Amendment NFPA 1971 Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting 2013 Edition Reference: 6.4.8 and A.6.4.8 TIA 13-5 (SC 15-8-26 / TIA Log #1182) Pursuant to Section 5 of the NFPA Regulations Governing the Development of NFPA Standards,
2、the National Fire Protection Association has issued the following Tentative Interim Amendment to NFPA 1971, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting, 2013 edition. The TIA was processed by the Technical Committee on Structural and Proximity Fire Fight
3、ing Protective Clothing and Equipment and the Correlating Committee on Fire and Emergency Services Protective Clothing and Equipment, and was issued by the Standards Council on August 19, 2015, with an effective date of September 8, 2015. A Tentative Interim Amendment is tentative because it has not
4、 been processed through the entire standards development process. It is interim because it is effective only between editions of the standard. A TIA automatically becomes a public input of the proponent for the next edition of the standard; as such, it then is subject to all of the procedures of the
5、 standards development process. 1. Add a new section 6.4.8 and associated Annex A.6.4.8 to read as follows: 6.4.8* For helmets with items installed or attached, the helmet with the items installed/attached shall meet the affected design and performance requirements of this standard. A.6.4.8 Examples
6、 of items include, but are not limited to: (1) front holders for helmet identification shields, (2) supplemental face shields and (3) other eye/face protection where goggles are provided with the helmet as the required face shield/goggle component as identified in 6.5.2.
