6、s a Five-Year Review and update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of drawn, round, seamless tubing with wall thickness of 0.018 to 0.500 inch (0.46 to 12.70 mm), inclusive (see 8.5). 1.2 Application This tubing has been used typically fo

7、r ducts requiring small radius bends and moderate strength after solution and precipitation heat treatment, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. TECHNICAL

13、REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined in accordance with AMS2355. 15、onform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with AMS2355 on the mill produced size. 3.3.1 As Annealed 3.3.1.1 Tensile Properties Shall be shown in Table 2 for tubing having nominal wall thickness of 0.018 to 0.500 inch (0.46 to 12.70 mm), inclusive. 24、241 12 14 3.3.3 Mechanical property requirements for product outside the ranges covered by Tables 2, 3, 4 and 5 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer. 3.4 Quality Tubing, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and fro

25、m imperfections detrimental to usage of the tubing. Detrimental imperfections include, but are not limited to, cracks, folds, splits, seams, inclusions, or severe cross-hatching (surface breaks) that cannot be removed by light hand-sanding, using 180 grit or finer sandpaper. The requirements of 3.5

26、shall be met after sanding. 3.5 Tolerances Except as specified in 3.5.1 for mean diameter and 3.5.2 for wall thickness, tolerances shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H.35.2M. 3.5.1 Mean Diameter Shall be shown in Table 6. 30、inch (0.89 mm); 7% or 0.003 inch (0.08 mm), whichever is greater, for wall thicknesses of 0.035 inch (0.89 mm) and over. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of tubing shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of a

31、ll required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the tubing conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties as annealed (3.3.1.1) and after so

32、lution heat treatment and aging (3.3.2.1), quality (3.4), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Flattening tests (3.3.1.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor

33、unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355 and as specified herein. 4.4 Reports The vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition and tolerances and showing

34、 the results of tests to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the product form, purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4079H, size, and quantity. The report shall also include the producer, producer lot number, and the size of the mill

35、product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by Tables 2, 3, 4, and 5, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666

36、M. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4079H Page 6 of 6 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the tubing to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6.

37、 ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Tubing not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES 8.1 Revisi

Hardness has been used to verify that tubing

40、is properly processed, but an out-of-specification hardness number is not always indicative of product with out of specification tensile strength. Further analysis including material composition verification, heat treat process parameter review, and/or tensile property measurement on product with ou

41、t-of-range hardness may be necessary. 8.3 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and the Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units and the Celsius temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalents of the prim

42、ary units and are presented only for information. 8.5 Purchase documents should specify not less than the following: AMS4079H Size of tubing desired Quantity of tubing desired 8.6 Similar Specifications Federal WW-T-700/6, Temper O, is listed for information only and shall not be construed as an acceptable alternate unless all requirements of this AMS are met.
