6、echargeable non-user and user replaceable batteries. The appliances and rechargeable(secondary) batteries or battery packs have a maximum rated nominal operating voltage of 30 60 V dcand a maximum capacity of 6 12 A-h. The batteries are contained within the appliance unit or are part ofthe appliance

The batteries are intended to be charged by a separate Class 2 power unit,either direct plug-in or cord-connected, or via USB connection.7.1.2 These requirements also apply to portable appliances directly supplied from a battery-poweredelectrical system of a vehicle using a vehicle

17、for Class 2 PowerUnits, UL 1310.7.3.1.2 A nickel cadmium (Ni-Cad) battery assembly or battery pack shall comply with the applicablerequirements of this end-product standard.7.3.1.3 A nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery assembly or battery pack shall comply with the applicablerequirements of this en
18、d-product standard.7.3.1.4 A lithium ion (Li-On) battery shall comply with the requirements for secondary lithium cells in theStandard for Lithium Batteries, UL 1642.Exception: A battery or battery pack that has been evaluated as part of a lithium ion battery system inaccordance with the Standard fo
19、r Lithium Ion Battery Systems for Use in Electric Power Tool and MotorOperated, Heating and Lighting Appliances, UL 2575, is considered to comply with this requirement.Compliance to UL 2575 is to be determined by evaluating the appliance in conjunction with this endproduct standard.7.3.1.4.1 Factors
20、 that shall be taken into consideration when determining the acceptability of the lithiumion battery are:a) the ratings and acceptability criteria for the lithium ion battery:b) evaluation of multiple batteries or cells when used as a battery pack or integral battery; andc) the compatability of the
21、end-product, battery (cell or pack), and charger.7.3.1.4.2 With reference to Clause 7.3.1.4.1, a lithium ion battery pack shall comply with the followingrequirements from the Standard for Household and Commercial Batteries, UL 2054:a) Abnormal Charging Test,b) Abusive Overcharge Test,c) Forced-Disch
22、arge Test, andd) 250 N Steady Force Test.Exception: For battery pack that can only be connected to a specific charging unit due to the uniquephysical design of the mating connection, the Abnormal Charging and Abusive Discharge Test are notrequired.7.3.1.5 A vehicle battery adapter shall comply with:
23、a) The Standard for Vehicle Battery Adapters, UL 2089; andb) The Standard for General-Use Power Supplies, CSA C22.2 No. 107.1 used in conjunctionwith the Standard for Battery Chargers, CSA C22.2 No. 107.2 or the Standard for PowerSupplies with Extra-Low-Voltage Class 2 Outputs, CSA C22.2 No. 223.7.3

26、ll comply with the following:a) if an electronic control board is used, the printed wiring board shall have a minimum HBflame rating, or the enclosure of the control board shall have a minimum HB flame rating;b) the USB cord shall comply with the Standard for Appliance Wiring Material, UL 758, and t
27、heStandard for Appliance Wiring Material Products, CSA-C22.2 No. 210;c) the USB connector material shall have a minimum HB flame rating; andd) the following statement, or equivalent, shall appear in the marking or instruction manual:“Use only with Listed/Certified Computer Equipment”.7.4 Constructio
28、n7.4.1 General7.4.1.1 For the requirements specified in Clause 4, the following risks shall be considered for an applianceunit and a battery pack:a) for an appliance charged by a Class 2 power unit, and a battery pack the risk of fire andinjury to persons, including battery response, shall be consid

30、ury to persons, including battery response.7.4.1.2 For the purpose of these requirements, a risk of electric shock is considered to exist in anyaccessible part of a system if a potential greater than the following exists:a) For wet pick-up or extraction type appliances: 15 volts rms, 21.2 volts ac p

32、.2.1.1 The requirement in Clause 4.1.2.9 does not apply to a permanently attached wall hung chargerbase connected to a direct plug-in Class 2 power unit that can be removed from the supply without theuse of a tool.7.4.3 Mechanical assembly7.4.3.1 A battery assembly An integral battery assembly, othe
33、r than a detachable battery pack, shall notbe specified for user replacement and shall not be accessible to the user without the use of a tool. Inconjunction with Clause 4.1.4, Aa battery assembly is considered to be accessible to the user if:a) the user can access the battery assembly terminals wit
34、hout the use of a tool;b) the user can access any portion of the battery assembly intended to be charged by a non-class 2 power unit., orb) access to the battery assembly with a tool the user is instructed to use for any purpose isnot prohibited by a cautionary marking in accordance with Clause 7.8.
35、3.2.Exception: Users may be instructed to remove the battery assembly for proper disposal or recycling atthe end of product life.7.4.3.2 If the user is instructed to open the appliance unit enclosure using a tool for any purpose, theappliance unit shall be provided with the marking specified in Clau
36、se 7.8.3.2.7.4.4 Terminals7.4.4.1 Terminals of provided on an appliance unit intended for charging the batteries using a Class 2power unit, and terminals of a battery pack charged by a Class 2 power unit, shall be guarded or recessedfrom the face of a connector to reduce the likelihood of short-circ
37、uiting. The terminal guard shall restrictcontact across the terminals by a straight edge nominally 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) thick placed in any positionacross and in contact with edges of the external parts of the appliance unit or the battery pack.7.4.4.2 For appliances intended to be charged by a non-Cl
38、ass 2 power unit, terminals on the appliance orbattery pack shall not be accessible; see Clause 4.1.4.7.4.5 Electrical insulation7.4.5.1 The requirements in Clause 4.7.2 covering electrical insulation do not apply to an appliance unitand a battery pack where the voltage is less than specified in 7.4
39、.1.2 and the circuit is supplied by:a) a battery assembly,b) a Class 2 power unit, orc) a vehicle battery adapter, provided with a fuse or circuit protector on the input with a currentrating not more than 5A.7.4.6 Motors7.4.6.1 The requirements in Clause 4.8 covering motors do not apply (see Clause

42、n that of the circuit it controls.Exception No. 1: A switch or similar control that controls a motor for a moving part that could cause injuryto persons need not comply with this requirement if it complies with the 50 cycle overload test specifiedin Clause 5.15 (see Clause 7.5.9.1) and the 6000 cycl

44、 to Clause 4.13.1, for an appliance charged by a Class 2 power unit, or vehiclebattery adapter where the adapter has a nominal input voltage rating of 12 VDC and is provided with afuse or circuit protector on the input with a current rating not more than 5A, an appliance unit or a batterypack, the e
45、lectrical spacings between uninsulated live parts of opposite polarity and between uninsulatedlive parts and dead metal parts shall not be less than 1/64 in (0.4 mm).7.4.9 Protection against injury to persons7.4.9.1 Surface temperatures7.4.9.1.1 With reference to Clause 4.16.4.1, the temperature of
46、a surface that can be contacted by theuser shall include any accessible surface of an appliance unit, if applicable, including any host area for abattery pack, and a battery pack that becomes accessible when the battery pack is detached.7.5 Tests7.5.1 General7.5.1.1 Testing covering the risk of elec
47、tric shock, such as the leakage current test, does not apply to anappliance charged by a Class 2 power unit, or vehicle battery adapter, an appliance unit and a batterypack. (see See Clause 7.4.1).7.5.1.2 For an appliance unit which can be operated for its intended function while electrically connec
48、tedto the Class 2 power unit, testing shall be conducted under the most onerous condition of supplyconfiguration.
