、ted-Wiring BoardsDECISION:5.6.5.5 Peel a uniform width of the conductor from the sample surface base material for a distance of atleast 6.4 7 to 14 mm (0.2575 to 0.551 inch) at a uniform rate of approximately 300 mm/min (12inches/min) (or, approximately 6.4 mm or 0.25 inch in 1.25 seconds 12.7 mm in

、 2.5 seconds; 0.50 inch in2.5 seconds). The angle between the conductor and the base material shall be maintained at not less than85 degrees during the test. Three force determinations are to be made on each conductor width describedbelow: i.e., three pulls for a distance of 7 to 14 mm (0.275 to 0.5

、51 inch) shall be made, on each of:Exception: As an alternative to using three force determinations, one force determination can be madeon each conductor described below on each sample tested by peeling a uniform width conductor from thesample surface for a distance of at least 19 mm (0.75 inch).a)

、A conductor having the minimum average width on the sample;b) A 1.6 mm (0.063 inch) wide conductor;c) An edge conductor having the minimum average width within 0.40 mm (0.015 inch) of theboard edge and not sheared at the board edge, except as described in 2.3. If the edgeconductor does not meet the

、criteria and/or is not included on the sample, a conductor of otherwidth (d) specified by the fabricator shall be testedd) A midboard/non-edge conductor of other width specified by the fabricator. The other widthconductor is optional unless the edge conductor does not meet the criteria in Conductor

、andconductor adhesives, 2.3 and/or is not included on the sample test pattern.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:When performing bond strength testing, the initiation of the pull causes the force to over shoot the actualstrength of the conductor as shown in Figure 5.1.7. It has been determined that more consist

、ent bondstrength data is obtained by using one force determination with a longer distance peel instead of usingthree shorter peel determinations. The longer distance peel allows the conductor pull force to stabilize. Ifthe conductor is pulled for the same distance as required in total during three f

、orce determinations, thetotal required peel distance does not change. The use of one force determination is being proposed as analternate method to the three force determination to allow for the use of either method depending on thesample configuration. Other minor modifications to the peel descript
