、with my opinion. In this essay, I would like to look at both sides of the argument. Many people believe that people should follow the customs and behaviour of the citizens of countries that they visit. They believe that this is necessary to show that visitors understand that they are guests in anoth

、er country and that they accept that they must follow local norms. This could greatly reduce the possibility of conflict between the visitors and the local people and therefore contributes to international understanding. On the other hand, many people, like myself, believe that one should behave in

、other countries as one would in his/her own country. This is considered good because people need to respect the fact that different countries and cultures have a variety of ways of doing things. In an increasingly interdependent world, this is important as it shows people that there is no one correc

、t way of acting and that no one country“s ways are better than another“s. This is particularly important with regard to religious beliefs. If people from one religion are told that they must act like the local people in the countries they visit, they might be dissuaded from visiting rather than act

、in ways that may contravene their religious beliefs. In conclusion, l think that it is unreasonable to ask people to change their behaviour when they visit another country. There are advantages in acting in accordance with local customs, but these are outweighed by the problems associated with it. 参

、考范文 2应该遵守当地风俗和行为 Should people follow local customs and behaviour when visiting other countries? I believe that they should, but many people disagree. In this essay, I will look at some of the points presented by both sides. Many people suggest that by adapting to the local customs and behaviour, vi

、sitors show their respect for the local culture and this results in an understanding of different cultures. Certainly, local people are happy and impressed when visitors show this kind of understanding. By adapting to the local culture, visitors might also get more out of their visits. With luck, th

In addition, not adapting to the local culture could cause serious offence, particularly in highly religious societies. However, adapting to the local culture could be misleading. The locals mig

This misunderstanding can be avoided quite easily through simple explanations of how things are in the visitors“ countries. On the other hand, one could argue that it should not be the visitors w

In conclusion, I do not think that it is necessary for visitors to follow local customs and behaviour, but I th

、ink that they should do this. I am confident that there would be increased mutual respect on the part of both locals and visitors.2.The charts below give information about USA marriage and divorce rates between 1970 and 2000, and the marital status of adult Americans in two of the years. Summarise t

、he information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. (分数:20.00)_正确答案:()解析:参考范文 One chart shows the number of marriages and divorces in the USA in 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000. The other shows the marital status of adult Americans in 1970 and 2000. The first

、chart indicates that the number of marriages in America (2.5 million) was the same in 1970 and 1980. This number then fell to 2.3 million in 1990 and fell further to 2 million in 2000. The number of divorces was 1 million in 1970 and rose to 1.4 million in 1980. It declined to 1.1 million in 1990 an

、d fell slightly to 1 million in 2000. In 1970, 70% of adults were married, but this declined to 59% in 2000. The percentage of widowed people fellfrom 7% (1970) to 5% (2000). The percentage of single people was 15% in 1970 and increased to 20% in 2000. The percentage of divorced people also rosefrom

、 2% (1970) to 8% (2000). To summarise, the number of marriages in America declined between 1970 and 2000, whilst the number of divorces rose, then fell. A lower percentage of adult Americans were married or widowed in 2000 than in 1970, but the percentages of single and divorced adults were higher.3

、.Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding change. Others, however, think that change is always a good thing. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. 23、ssible, whilst others prefer to be more flexible and think that change is good. In this essay, I will look at both sides of the debate. Those who think that change is a good thing point out that it allows a person to gain a wider range of experiences. For example, a person can change jobs frequently

、 and thus see how things are done in different companies and organisations. They also have the opportunity to meet a wider variety of people and can benefit from their experience too. People who live in foreign countries have the chance to become familiar with different cultures, which benefits them

、 both personally and in their professional lives. However, the main problem with change is that it is often disruptive. A person who works for several different companies throughout their working life certainly gets to know how things are done differently in other companies, but they often forego th

、e opportunity to build a career because many companies prefer to promote employees who have been working for them for a long time and are thus familiar with their practises, rather than putting new people into key positions, which could be problematic. This can also be seen in other spheres of life.

、 It is generally considered bad to move children from school to school, since they have to get used to new teachers and make new friends. In conclusion, change can be beneficial, but I believe that, in general, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and that constant change leads to greater probl

In this essay, I will look at both sides of the argument and say why I believe that change is a good thing in a person“s life. Some people avoid change. They migh

、t do this for a negative reason, such as out of fear of the unknown or an unwillingness to risk what they have. On the other hand, they might avoid change for a positive reason, such as satisfaction with what they have. Change can be a very frustrating and emotional experience. If a person is not pr

、epared for it, change can cause many problems. For example, if a person moves to another country, they need to be ready for the differences that they will inevitably find there. If they are not prepared, they will probably view the country they move to with suspicion. However, I believe that change

、is necessary and generally a good thing. Obviously, not all changes are good, but I think it is important for a person to experience it in their lives. A person who changes their job can get experience of how things are done in different companies. A person who lives in different places can see more

To conclude, I think that change is usually good for a person, but that a person must be prepared for it in order to make the most of it.4.You and your family are living in rented acc

、范文 Dear Mr. Smith, My family and I have been living in your property at 12 New Road for almost three years now. We are happy here and would like to thank you for all the help you have given us. However, recently we have noticed that the quality of the furniture has deteriorated. In particular, the s

、ofa and armchairs are torn and should be repaired or changed. Under the terms of our lease, this constitutes normal wear and tear and it is the landlord“s responsibility to take care of the matter financially. We would therefore be grateful if you would either arrange to have the sofa and armchairs

、repaired or replaced. Alternatively, under the terms of the lease, I could buy some new replacement furniture and deduct the cost from the next rental payment. Either option is acceptable to us. Please inform me as soon as convenient which of these options you prefer. Yours sincerely, Mikal Brun5.So

、me people think it would be a good idea for schools to teach every young person how to be a good parent. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Describe the skills a person needs to be a good parent. (分数:20.00)_正确答案:()解析:参考范文 1不同意 In this essay, I will say why I disagree with the idea of school

、s teaching parenting and outline the skills a person needs in order to be a good parent, in my opinion. I believe schools should focus on academic subjects, such as maths, languages, science and humanities, rather than on teaching non-academic subjects, such as parenting. There is limited amount of

、space in the school timetable and this means that a clear line needs to be drawn somewhere. In other words, it is unrealistic to expect schools to be able to teach everything, meaning that certain things must be left to parents. Since schoolteachers are almost always knowledgeable in their particula

Although teachers may make suggestions, they cannot present solutions to parenting problems without detailed knowledge of the situation withi

As for the skills of a good parent, I think that the key ones are honesty and trust. Parents must be honest with their children. If

、 children cannot believe their parents, then they are unlikely to believe teachers or other people. Parents need to be able to trust their children. Many parents do not believe their children and, while this is sometimes justified, it can lead to a breakdown in the parent-child relationship. In conc

、lusion, I believe that it is better to leave the development of parenting skills in children to parents rather than teachers and that honesty and trust are the most important things in the parent-child relationship. 参考范文 2同意 Recently, there has been much debate over what schools should teach. Some p

、eople ask whether it would be good to teach students about parenting. I think this is a good idea. I shall outline my reasons below and also say what skills I believe a person needs in order to be a good parent. Often, I hear parents say they do not know how to deal with their children. Parents cons

、tantly ask for advice from their parents or friends. It is clear to me that some kind of preparation before becoming a parent would be useful. Some people argue this training should take place in the homethat schools are for academic subjects. I disagree. Parents often lack time to teach their child

、ren at home. This means the children have to learn about parenting at school or they will not learn about it at all. Some argue that teaching students about parenting at school would take time from more academic subjects, like physics. This is true, but ignores the fact that most students do not use what they learn in such subjects in their adult lives. Surely it is more useful to teach students the things they are more likely to need in their adult lives? As for good parenting skills, I think the key ones are time management and the ability to deal with household finances
