For pivots, measure and record the vertical relationship between the top of the door and the adjacent header or reference po

2、int at the pivot axis with the door closed. Measure and record the lateral relationship of the door with the jamb at the top pivot point. 5.2 For hinges or pivots with adjustable spring force, adjust to provide a total closing force equal to or greater than the minimum given for the hinges or pivots

3、 in 5.2.1. The manufacturers recommended adjustment procedures shall be used. For non-adjustable spring hinges or pivots, the closing force shall equal or exceed the minimum values shown in 5.2.1. Closing force shall equal or exceed the value given in 5.2.1. 9 5.5 At the conclusion of the cycle test, measure v

10、ertical and lateral relationships as described in 5.1. 12、stalled and the entire test shall be started over. If in the second test any hinge springs break, the hinges shall have failed the test. 5.9 Conduct finish tests (6.5). 6. TEST DETAILS 6.1 Closing Force Test 6.1.1 Prior to the start of the cycle test 6.2, draw a line on the floor parallel to the doo

13、r in the 45 degree + 2 degrees open position. 6.1.2 Conduct the closing force test at the beginning of the cycle test. Test: Open the door to the 45 degree mark on the floor, and position the force gage to contact the door at 30 inches (762 mm) from the pivot axis. 6.1.3 In the case of spring hinges

14、, the manufacturer shall elect to achieve the required closing force with a minimum of two or all three of the hinges being tested and shall clearly indicate the number of hinges required to be tensioned to meet the value specified. 6.2 Cycle Test 6.2.1 Mount hinges or pivots in accordance with 4.1

15、and 4.2 and set closing force of adjustable hinges or pivots in accordance with 5.2. 6.2.2 Mechanically open the door to 90 degrees + 5 degrees and release, allowing the hinges or pivots to completely close the door within 5 degrees of the normal closed position. One opening and closing constitutes

16、one cycle. Repeat for the required number of cycles as given in 5.3.1. Cycles per minute shall be a maximum of 20. 6.2.3 Double acting hinges or pivots shall be cycled in each direction. Alternately cycling the test door in one direction and then the other for the required number of cycles shall be

17、permitted. Cycling the door for 25,000 times in one direction and then 25,000 times in the other for the required number of cycles given in 5.3.1 shall be permitted. One opening and closing in each direction constitutes two cycles. 10 6.2.4 At the conclusion of the cycle test (6.2), remeasure and re

18、cord vertical and lateral relationship of all hinges or pivots in 5.1. All measurements shall be taken at the same door position as initial measurements made at the start of the test. 6.3 Latch Test for Single Acting Doors 6.3.1 After the re-measurement in 6.2.4, release the door from 45 degrees ope

19、n and measure the impact of the door at the 5 degree open position. The impact shall not be less than a 4.5 lbf (20 N) at a point where a latch is located. (See 4.3.2) 6.4 Static Load Test 6.4.1 Lateral change and deformation. At the conclusion of the latch test 6.3 and with the door in the 0 degree

20、 (closed) position, add and remove 150 lbs. (68 kg) at a point on the door at a horizontal distance from the pivot axis equal to the test door width shown in 5.2.1. Lateral shift of the door leaf away from the jamb at top hinge shall not exceed .062 in (1.6 mm). Exception: Double acting spring hinge

21、s and pivots are not subject to this test. 6.5 Salt Spray Test. This test shall be conducted in accordance with 3.1 and 3.2 in ANSI/BHMA A156.18-2012 for Materials and Finishes for the exposure times given below. Requirements. The parts for finish testing shall be selected at random and shall

23、 be three pieces. When one part is noticeably poorer than the others tested, this defective part shall be ignored as an isolated defective part. 11 7. HINGE DESCRIPTIONS AND IDENTIFYING NUMBERS. 38、cond numeral identifies the type of product: 1 - Spring Hinge 2 - Gravity or Spring Hinge Pivot 3 - Gate Spring Pivot Hinge 4 - Screen Door Hinge 7 - Miscellaneous Items 8.4 Third and fourth numerals are nonsignificant and are used to make each type number different. 8.5 The fifth numeral designates

39、 the grade classification of the product: 1 - Grade 1 2 - Grade 2 3 - Grade 3 4 - Grade 4 (no tests are required) 8.6 Example of identifying number: K81081 K - Section K 8 - Material (wrought steel) 1 - Type of product (spring hinge) 08 - non-significant and are used to make each type number differe

40、nt. 1 - Grade 1 (Grade determinations are made on the basis of the required performance test levels.) 8.7 The suffix letter F, where used in the identification number, indicates the hinge is listed for use on fire doors. As shown in the hinge descriptions on paragraph 7, only Grade 1 spring hinges a

Certification that products offered meet the requirements of this Standard and conform to the individual manufacturers drawings, specifications, standards, and quality

42、assurance practices are available and in some circumstances are required. Buyer requirements determine the need for proof of conformance such as first article inspection, test laboratory reports or listings. Specifiers requiring assertions of conformance utilize statements of conformance furnished b

43、y individual manufacturers, or test results acceptable to the buyer. A-2 Preservation, Packaging and Packing. Unless other arrangements between buyer and seller are made, preservation, packaging and packing shall be sufficient to protect containers and their contents under normal shipping and handli

44、ng conditions from the source of supply to the destination point. A-3 Marking. Unless other arrangements between buyer and seller are made, marking shall be in accordance with the individual manufacturers standard practice. A-4 Lubrication For proper performance and maximum durability of spring hinges, it is important to follow the manufacturers instructions for the application of lubrication after field installation.
