SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers one type of trainer fo
2、r use in the preliminary instruction of the United States Armed Forces in the use and maintenance of the 75-m tank gun, M6. The trainer is designated Traber, Gunnery, Tank, 7i-MM, M14. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials.-The materials used in the manufacture of the trainer Units shall be in Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-T-3187 b7 W 777770b 0373607 O W MILT-3187 accordance with Specification 60-0-1 and a8 hereinafter specified. Unless otherwise speci- fied, mate
9、rials or equipment designated on the applicable drawings as (commercial” shall be the best quality available. They shall be suit- able for the intended purpose, and shall be free of def wts which may affect their serviceability or appearance. 3.2 Performance.-The trainer units, fully assembled, shal
10、l function properly in all details, as determined by the tests prescribed in section 4. 3.3 Components. - The complete trainer shall consist basically of a modified tank turret unit and a power unit, with each unit mounted on a separate dolly. 3.4 Turret unit. 3.4.1 Tumet doZly.-The turret dolly sha
11、ll be a table-like structure consisting of a ring- shaped top surface to permit the attachment of the turret ring gear, and legs mounted on cast- ers to permit it to be moved about. The dolly structure shall be adequately reinforced so as to develop the required strength to support the turret with g
12、un and gun mount inst.alled, and an additional weight of approximately 3,000 pounds as represented by observers standing on the observation platforms. (See 3.4.6.) A shield, fabricated of expanded metal, shall com- pletely encircle the dolly as shown on the ap- plicable drawings. 3.42 Casters.-The t
13、urret dolly shall be provided with two rigid (nonswiveling) and four swivel casters bolted to the dolly legs as shown on the applicable drawings, The casters shall have sufficient capacity to support the combined weight of the dolly, turret, and per- sonnel as specified in 3.4.1. 3.4.2.1 Wheels and
14、mles.-The caster wheels shall be fabricated of metal and shall be mounted on axles of the bolt and nut type. A suitable means shall be provided to prevent the nut from unscrewing. 3.4.2.2 Bea4ngs.-Wheels shall be mounted on antifriction bearings of the ball or roller type. Swivel type casters shall
15、be provided with antifriction bearings in the swivel. The balls or rollers shall be of chrome nickel steel and the races shall be ground. 3.4.2.3 Forks,-The caster forks shall be so .- designed as to minimize the possibility of the caster wheels rubbing or binding between the arms. 3.4.3 Jach.-The t
16、urret dolly shall be pro- vided with three leveling jacks positioned as shown on the applicable drawings. Each jack shall consist basically of a threaded barrel and screw, and a base. Suitable means shall be pro- vided in the screws for raising or lowering the jacks. 3.4.4 Twet.-The turret shall be
17、mounted on the turret dolly as shown on the applicable drawings. The turret, after mounting, shall be closely adjusted to provide proper operation through 360 of rotation without interference and without lost motion exceeding that per- mitted on the applicable drawings. With the turret assembly ring
18、 gear fuqy bolted to the dolly, and with the turret complete with gun, gun mount, and slip ring installed, but without hand and hydraulic traversing mechanisms in- stalled, torque required to maintain rotation of the turret with the dolly in a level position shall not exceed 300 foot-pounds. Variati
19、on between maximum and minimum torque through 360 of rotation shall not exceed 50 foot-pounds. 3.4.5 Traversing mechanism.-The turret shall be provided with a traversing mechanism conforming to Specification 60-9862 and to the applicable drawings, 3.4.6 Observation pZatfomns.-The turret shall be pro
20、vided with two observation plat- forms, one on each side of and securely attached to the turret. Each platform shall be rigidly constructed so as to be capable of supporting a weight of approximately 1,500 pounds. The platform shall be provided with suitable hand- rails as shown on the applicable dr
21、awings. 3.4.7 Gun mount.-The gun mount shall conform to Specification 60-82-24 and to the applicable drawings. 3.4.8 Gum stabiliaer.-The gun stabilizer shall conform to Specification 60-9861 and to the applicable drawings. 3.4.9 Sighting and visSion dehe mount- ings.-Mountings for fire-control instr

23、all be made for installation of radio and in- terphone systems in accordance with the appli- cable drawings. 3.4.11 8eats.-The turret shall be provided with three cushioned seats conforming to Speci- fication 60-89-7, and to the applicable draw- ings. 3.4.12 Ammunition rach and stowage except that t

25、y. Lubricating fittings shall permit free passage of the lubricant to all bearing areas. Antifric- tion bearings shall be properly packed with grease before assembly. All lubricants shall conform to applicable speciications, and shall be of the grade recommended (see 6.2) for use by the Department o
26、f the Army. 3.9 Workmanship.-The workmanship shall be of the quality necessary to produce trainer units free of defects which may affect service- ability or appearance, and shall comply with the applicable requirements of Specification 60-0-1. 3.9.1 Welding.-All welds shall be sound and smooth, free
27、 of porosity, cracks, or incom- plete fusion, deformation of the metal, and rough or projecting edges. Defects in parts or materials shall be repair-welded only when specifically authorized by the procuring agency. 3.9.2 Finjshed szcrfaces.-All finished sur- f aces shall be protected to prevent corr
28、osion and injury during manufacture and until de- livery. Fins and other extra metal shall b TT-E-489. removed from castings and forgings.
