、5 Packaging (see Section 13), and4.1.6 ASTM designation and year of issue.4.2 The purchaser shall have the option to specify additionalrequirements, including but not limited to, the following:4.2.1 Wire size number, wire spacing, and sheet or rollwidth and length,4.2.2 Minimum yield strength or Gra

、de, and4.2.3 Requirements for inspection (see Section 9),5. General Requirements5.1 The wire used in the manufacture of welded wirereinforcement shall conform to Specification A1064/A1064M.After galvanizing, the welded wire shall meet the requiredmechanical properties of Specification A1064/A1064M e

、xceptfor the bend test requirements as prescribed in Table 1 of thisspecification.5.2 Welded wire reinforcement shall be furnished either inflat sheets, or in rolls, as specified by the purchaser.5.3 The zinc used for coating shall be any grade thatconforms to Specification B6.6. Galvanizing6.1 Mass

、 Weight Thickness of Coating and Test:6.1.1 This specification includes six classes of coatingweight mass when the welded wire reinforcement is coatedbefore fabrication and four coating thickness grades when thewelded wire reinforcement is coated after fabrication. Theweight mass of zinc coating is

、based on the measureddiameter of the wire when the stripping method is performedand the nominal diameter for all other methods, and shallconform to the requirements shown in Table 2 or Table 3.Individual results not more than 10 % below the minimumvalues specified in Table 2 or Table 3 are allowed i

、f the averageof at least two samples from the same coil are equal to orgreater than the minimum, individual results shall be not lessthan 1.08 oz/ft2330 g/m2.6.1.1.1 When the product is coated before fabrication in acontinuous coating process, coating weights are given in Table2 for various zinc coa

、ting classes.NOTE 2Zinc coated wire produced as “regular coating” shall have thefull surface covered with zinc, but there is no specified minimum weightof coating.6.1.1.2 When the product is coated after fabrication in ahot-dip process, coating thickness are given in Table 3 forvarious zinc coating

、grades.NOTE 3At the purchasers request the galvanized coating may bechromate treated. This is to minimize a reaction between the reinforcingsteel and fresh portland cement paste. Proprietary chromating solutions ofequivalent strength are permitted in place of the generic chemicaltreatment specified.

、6.1.2 Magnetic Thickness MeasurementsThe weightmass of the coating may be determined by magnetic thicknessgage measurements in accordance with Practice E376. Thethickness measurement is used to calculate the weight massby multiplying it by the surface area of coated wire and by thezinc density. Beca

、use this form of testing can yield inconsistentand potentially unreliable results on smaller sizes of wire, oneor more of the following methods shall be permitted to be usedto referee and take precedence over the results obtained bymagnetic thickness measurements.6.1.2.1 Stripping MethodThe weight m

、ass shall be de-termined by stripping the coating from the steel wire specimenin accordance with Section 8 and Test Method A90/A90M.6.1.2.2 Weighing Before and After GalvanizingTheweight mass shall be determined by weighing the samplebefore and after galvanizing. The difference between the twomeasur

、ements divided by the surface area of the sampleprovides the weight mass. The original weighing shall occurafter pickling and drying. The second weighing shall occurafter cooling to ambient temperature.6.1.2.3 MicroscopyThe weight mass shall be determinedby cross-sectional and optical measurement in

、 accordance withTest Method B487. A cross-section sample of the steel shall bepolished and examined with an optical microscope to deter-mine the coating thickness. The coating weight mass shall bedetermined by multiplying coating thickness by the surfacearea of the coated sample and by the density o

、f zinc.6.1.3 Number of TestsFor determination of the coatingweight mass, three random samples shall be tested from eachlot. For each magnetic thickness measurement sample, five ormore measurements shall be made along the length and widthof the sample so as to represent the entire surface of thesampl

、e. A total of at least fifteen measurements shall beaveraged to obtain the coating thickness. For the microscopymethod, five samples shall be tested per lot. Each sample shallbe measured on four sides and the total of twenty measure-ments shall be averaged to obtain the coating thickness. For thestr

、ipping method and the weighing method, three samples perlot shall be measured.NOTE 4A lot shall be as follows: all wire of the same size furnishedto the same steel reinforcing specification that has been galvanized withina single production shift.6.2 Handling:6.2.1 The identification of all reinforc

However, if specified, the purchaser shallconduct the tests which govern the acceptance or rejection ofthe materials in his own laboratory or elsewhere.10. Rejection and Rehearing10.1 Unless otherwise specified, any rejection
