The plates are intended primarily for use in weldedpressure vessels.1.2 Due to the inherent characteristics of the rolling andcooling processes, or both, the plates shall not be formed attemperatures exceeding 932F 500C.1.3 The maximum thickness of plates is limite

These requirements out-line the testing and retesting methods and procedures, permit-ted variations in dimensions, and mass, quality
9、 and repair ofdefects, marking, loading, and ordering information.3.2 In addition to the basic requirements of thisspecification, certain supplementary requirements are availablewhen additional control, testing, or examination is required tomeet end use requirements. 11、lmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed.4.2 Plates shall be produced by hot rolling and shall becontrolled cooled after rolling within the temperature rangefrom 1472 to 932F 800 to 500C at a rate that is on averagefaster than 18F/s 10C/s .4.3 Heat treatment following the final rolling process shal

Mechanical Properties6.1 Tension Test RequirementsThe material as representedby tension-test specimens shall conform to the requirementsspecified in Table 2.6.1.1 Upon agreement between the purchaser and themanufacturer, yield strength may be determined by the exten-sio
18、n under load method, using 0.005 in./in. mm/mm totalextension.6.1.2 For nominal plate thicknesses of34 in. 20 mm andunder, the 112 40 mm wide rectangular specimen may beused for the tension test and the elongation may be determinedin a 2 in. 50 mm gage length that includes the fracture andshows the
19、greatest elongation.6.2 Impact Test Requirements:6.2.1 Charpy V-notch impact tests shall be made in accor-dance with Specification A20/A20M.6.2.2 The longitudinal axis of the test specimens shall betransverse to the final rolling direction of the plate.6.2.3 Unless otherwise agreed, tests shall be c
20、onducted at320F 195C and average absorbed energy for each set ofthree full size specimens shall be 20 ftlbf 27 J or more.6.2.4 Each impact test value shall constitute the averagevalue of three specimens, with not more than one value belowthe specified minimum value of 20 ftlbf 27 J but in no casebel
21、ow 15 ftlbf 20 J for full size specimens.6.2.5 Each test specimen shall have a lateral expansionopposite the notch of not less than 0.015 in. 0.381 mm.7.
