Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope*1.1 This test method covers determination of t
3、he miscibilityof lacquer solvents with heptane. It may also be used to detectqualitatively the presence of moisture in esters and ketones.NOTE 1For the quantitative determination of water content, see TestMethod D 1364.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. 6、e Solvents (KarlFischer Reagent Titration Method)3. Significance and Use3.1 Water in a solvent may interfere with many uses of thesolvent. This test method provides a measure of the miscibilityof lacquer solvents with a nonpolar medium-heptane. It alsoprovides a qualitative indication of the presenc
7、e or absence ofmoisture in these solvents (often esters and ketones). Theresults of these measurements may be used for specificationacceptance.4. Reagents4.1 Heptane, containing not less than 99 % n-heptane.NOTE 2Detailed requirements for 99 % n-heptane are specified inTable 1 of Test Method D611.5.
8、 Procedure5.1 Both the specimen and the heptane shall be at atemperature of 20 6 1C. Transfer 5 mL of the specimen to a100-mL glass-stoppered (graduated) cylinder and add 5-mLincrements of heptane until the total specified volume (usuallyspecified as 19 volumes or 95 mL) has been added, shakingwell
9、after each addition. A clear solution indicates miscibilityand a turbid solution indicates immiscibility or the presence ofwater in the specimen, or both.6. Report6.1 If the solution remains clear after the addition of thespecified amount of heptane, report the specimen as passingthis test.7. Precis
