Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers Schedule 80 PVCpipe fittings, socket-type, made from fou
17、r PVC plastic com-pounds and intended for use with Iron Pipe Size (IPS)outside-diameter plastic pipe. (See Specification D1785.)4.1.1 Fittings covered by this specification are normallymolded. In-line fittings, such as couplings, unions, bushings,caps, nipples, and the like, shall be molded or machi
18、ned fromextruded stock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by back welding or butt fusion arenot included in this specification.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 This specification covers PVC pipe fittings made fromfive PVC plastics as classified in Specification D1784. Theseare PVC 12454, 11443, and 14333.5.2
19、CompoundThe PVC plastic compound shall meet therequirements of PVC 12454, 11443, or 14333, as described inSpecification D1784.5.3 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6.
20、 Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 Fitting sockets inside diameters (waterways), mini-mum wall thicknesses, and dimensions shall be as shown inTables 1-5 when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2122.6.1.2 When multistep reducer bushings are cored out, theinner socket shall be rein
21、forced from the outer wall by aminimum of three ribs extending from the top of the innersocket to the deepest extremity of the coring. The transitionfromDtoDJ(Table 4) shall be straight, tapered as shown, orradiused. A positive taper in the same direction of the taper inthe socket on the outside dia
22、meter of the bushing is optional(see XA/XB in Table 3). Any point measured along the outsidediameter of the bushing (between points XA and XB) shall notfall below minimum pipe OD.6.1.3 The minimum wall thickness of fittings shall be 125 %of the minimum wall thickness of the corresponding size ofSche
23、dule 80 pipe for which they are designed to be used,except that for the socket, the wall thickness shall be at leastequal to the minimum wall thickness of the corresponding sizeof Schedule 80 pipe.6.1.4 The minimum inside diameter of the fittings shallbe not less than the minimum specified inside di
24、ameter of thecorresponding size of Schedule 80 pipe. 25、,threads shall conform to Specification F1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.4.6.3 Burst Pressure:6.3.1 The minimum burst strength of the fittings shall benot less than that calculated for the size and wall thickness ofthe pipe with which it is to be used, when calculated from thefollowing equatio
26、n and using a stress of 6400 psi for 8-in. andsmaller fittings, and a stress of 5100 psi for fittings larger than8-in. when the cell class is 12454, 13354 and 11443. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous throughout and freeof cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects. Thefittings shall be as uniform as commercially practicable incolor, opaci
29、ty, density, and other physical properties.8. Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 10 % relative humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test C
30、onditionsConduct tests in the Standard Labora-tory Atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test meth-ods or in this specification.8.3 SamplingA sufficient quantity of fittings as agreedupon between the seller and the purchaser shall be sele
31、cted atrandom from each lot or shipment and tested to determine thatthe basic design is in conformance with this specification.NOTE 3For individual orders or specifications where supplementaltests are required, only those tests and numbers of tests specifically agreedupon between purchaser and selle
32、r need be conducted.8.4 ThreadsAll taper pipe threads shall be gaged inaccordance with Specification F1498.8.5 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressurein accordance with Test Method D1599, Procedure B. Thepressure shall be applied at a uniform rate such that theminimum allowable burst pres
33、sure is attained in 60 to 70 s.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the tests(s) shall be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed,
