Compatibility with Other Materials6.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that theflooding compound ordered is suitable for the int
14、ended appli-cation and is compatible with any other components that maycome into contact with the flooding compound.6.2 The purchaser shall specify the materials that the com-pound must be compatible with when tested in accordance withTest Method D 4568.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The chemical compos
15、ition of these materials is notspecified. The material may be of any chemical compositionsuitable for the intended purpose and which meets the require-ments of this specification as hereinafter stated.7.2 Once established, the producer shall not change thecomposition of the compound in successive lo
16、ts of materialwithout prior approval of the purchaser.8. Physical Properties8.1 Flooding compound furnished under this specificationshall inhibit the corrosion of any metallic wire and cableelements with which it comes in contact, while serving as aradial and longitudinal barrier to moisture transmi
17、ssion. Con-tact of the flooding compound with any cable component shallnot cause degradation of performance of the cable component.The flooding compound shall display adhesive properties toprovide adhesion between metallic sheath elements and theouter jacket materials of wire and cable.8.2 Other Pro
18、perties:8.2.1 Other physical properties requirements such as Vis-cosity (for example, Test Method D 3236), Flash Point (forexample, Test Method D 92), Needle Penetration (for example,Test Method D 1321), Ring-and-Ball Softening Point (forexample, Test Method E 28), and Heat Stability/ViscosityChange
19、 (for example, Test Method D 3236), may be specified,if needed, and shall be as agreed-upon between the producerand the purchaser.8.3 The purchaser (individual cable manufacturer or other)shall specify any other expected requirements needed to ensurecompliance with such end-product requirements as c
20、old-bend,low-temperature flexibility, and the like (for example, TestMethods D 4565).9. General Requirements9.1 All flooding compounds manufactured in conformanceto this specification shall meet the following requirements:9.1.1 HomogeneityThe compound shall be homogeneousand uniformly mixed.9.1.2 Fo
21、reign MaterialThe compounds shall be free ofdirt, metallic particles, and other foreign matter.9.2 Other Properties:9.2.1 Other raw material requirements such as Volatility (forexample, Test Method D 6), Metals Content (for example, TestMethod D 482), adhesive property measurements, and corro-sion i
22、nhibiting characteristics may be specified, if needed, andshall be as agreed-upon between the producer and the pur-chaser.9.3 The purchaser (individual cable manufacturer or other)shall specify any other expected requirements needed to ensurecompliance with such end-product requirements as cabledrip
23、-out temperature and jacket slip.10. Quality Assurance10.1 Responsibility for Inspection and TestsUnless other-wise specified in the contract or purchase order, the producer isresponsible for the performance of all inspection and testrequirements specified herein. The producer may use his ownor any
24、other suitable facilities for the performance of theinspection and test requirements specified herein, unless oth-erwise stated by the purchaser in the order or at the time of thecontract signing. The purchaser shall have the right to performany of the inspections and tests set forth in this specifi
25、cationwhere such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that thematerial conforms to prescribed requirements.10.2 Each producer shall establish written nominal valuesand tolerances for the material properties routinely checked.For properties not routinely checked, typical values shall bespecifie

Once these values have been accepted by thepurchaser, the producer shall not ship material which deviatesfrom these limits without prior notification to and approval bythe purchaser.10.3 An inspection lot shall consist of an identifiable quan-tity of the same material subjected to inspection at o
27、ne time.11. Certification11.1 The producer or supplier shall, on request, furnish tothe purchaser a certificate stating that each lot has beensampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with this speci-fication, and has met the requirements.12. Packaging and Package Marking12.1 PackagingThe floodin
28、g compound shall be pack-aged in a manner that protects the material from contaminationduring shipment.12.2 Package MarkingShipping containers shall bemarked with the name of the manufacturer, trade name, type ofmaterial, lot number, mass or volume, and date of manufacture.13.
