Summary of Test Method4.1 This test method consists of applying adhesive to athreaded fastener and measuring the developed tension appliedto the fastener at
7、 specified torques. Alternatively, the torquerequired to reach specified levels of bolt tension may bemeasured.5. Significance and Use5.1 On some applications of threaded fasteners, it is desir-able to control either the amount of developed tension when aspecified range of torque has been applied or
8、 the torquerequired to develop a specified range of tension. This testmethod is used to determine the effect of using adhesives onthe torque-tension relationship of threaded fasteners.5.2 Accurate torque-tension relationships may be measuredonly by defining and controlling the many related test para

Apparatus6.1 Tension-Measuring Device, capable of measuring theaxial tension induced in the bolt as it is tightened, having anaccuracy within 65 % of the test load.6.2 Torque-Measuring Device, of suitable capacity havingan accuracy within 65 % of a given torque reading.7. Test Specimens7.
10、1 BoltsAs-received, phosphate-and-oil-treated,38-in.size, 16 threads per inch, Unified National Coarse thread series(38 by 16 UNC), Grade 5 bolts in accordance with SAE J429,having a minimum length of 112 in. (38.1 mm) with hexagonalhead.7.2 Steel NutsAs-received, Type II, Style 4, nominally2164 in.
