3、num chamber used in specified airperformance measurement tests for vacuum cleaners.1.2 The plenum chamber is designed for vacuum measure-ments only. (WarningThe plenum chamber has been shownto accurately determine maximum air power values at varioustest points for vacuum cleaners. There is a possibi

4、lity that theairflow values measured with orifices larger than 2 in. at highflow rates may be erroneous due to the proximity of the top andbottom surfaces to the orifice plate inlet.)1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. 19、electronic pressure gauge without integration is used, it is recommended that the inner diameter of themanometer connection port be 0.020 in. or as small as possible to minimize manometer overshoot and bounce. As an alternative to fabricating this holediameter, a hypodermic needle with an inner diam

21、ge away from the chamber.Installing the sharp edge orifice toward the chamber may produce incorrect results.NOTE 2The circular sharp edge orifice should have neither wire edges nor burrs and is considered sharp if, when viewed with the naked eye, the edgedoes not seem to reflect a beam of light. SUGGESTED PROCEDURE FOR LEAK TESTING OF THE PLENUM CHAMBERX1.1 ScopeX1.1.1 This section covers a recommended procedure to beused in evaluating leaks in the plenum chamber.X1.2 ProcedureX1.2.1 Connect the plenum chamber to the

29、manometerusing14 in. inside diameter vinyl tubing as shown in Fig. X1.1.X1.2.2 Seal off the test unit inlet using a gasketed plate orother suitable means.X1.2.3 Insert the sealed suction orifice plate into the orificeplate holder and secure.X1.2.4 Using a vacuum source, apply 80 to 90 in. of waterco

30、lumn vacuum to the suction source tubing inlet depicted inFig. X1.1. (This can be achieved by inserting and sealing thetubing inlet into a crevice nozzle connected to a canistervacuum product which utilizes a two stage vacuum motor/blower system).X1.2.5 Pinch off the suction source tubing using a cl

31、ampand remove the inlet tubing from the vacuum source. Wait 15to 20 s, in order to allow the water column to drain andstabilize, and then record the initial manometer value to within0.1 in. of water column.X1.2.6 After 15 min has elapsed, record the final manom-eter value to within 0.1 in. water col

32、umn.X1.2.7 If the initial and final readings differ by more than0.1 in. of water column, investigate the source of plenumNOTE 1Holes are for centering and fastening the mounting ring to plenum chamber wall using screws and a sealing gasket. Optional methods ofmounting are acceptable, provided mounti

33、ng ring is centered on hole specified in plenum chamber wall and resulting joint is air tight.NOTE 2See orifice plate (Fig. 2) for tolerances.NOTE 3The mounting ring usually is positioned on the plenum chamber wall with the orifice plate vertical (when locked). Other positions resultingfrom construc

34、tion of the plenum chamber are acceptable.NOTE 4Surface “A” must be flat within 0.005 in. (0.13 mm); finish to be 63 in.
