Materials4.1 Polyethylene PlasticsThe PE materials used to makeconduit under this Specification shall meet or exceed thefollowing
16、requirements:4.1.1 CompoundPE resin compounds shall be classifiedin accordance with Specification D 3350 and Table 1.4.1.2 Rework MaterialClean polyethylene compoundfrom the manufacturers own production may be re-extrudedinto conduit, either alone or blended with virgin compound.Conduit containing t
17、he rework material shall meet all thematerial and product requirements of this specification.4.1.3 Material Physical Properties:4.1.3.1 DensityDensity values shall be determined byTest Methods D 792, D 1505,orD 4883.4.1.3.2 Melt IndexA melt index of up to 0.55 grams/10minutes as per Test Method D 12
18、38 Condition 190/2.16 isallowable provided that all other material requirements speci-fied in Table 1 are met.4.1.3.3 Slow Crack GrowthAn ESCR as per Test MethodD 1693, condition B, 10 % Igepal requirement of F10 96 h isallowable provided that all other material requirements inTable 1 are met.4.2 Co
19、extruded LayerAny material used as a coextrudedlayer on the inside or outside surface of the PE conduit shalladhere to the surface of the PE and shall not delaminate innormal use. It shall not degrade or lower the performance ofthe PE conduit.4.3 Aerial ApplicationsPE material for black conduit inlo
20、ng-term above ground applications, such as aerial suspen-sion, shall be stabilized with a minimum of 2 % by weightcarbon black having an average particle size less than or equalto 20 nanometers.4.4 Outdoor Storage Stability:4.4.1 Black ConduitPE material for black conduit innon-UV exposed applicatio
21、ns shall be stabilized with a mini-mum of 2 % by weight carbon black in accordance withSpecification D 3350.NOTE 1Acceptable cell for Color and UV resistance properties inTable 1 may be achieved by utilizing a precompounded material or byblending a base natural material with a color concentrate.4.4.
22、2 Colored ConduitPE material for colored conduit innon-UV exposed applications shall be suitably protectedagainst UV degradation so that conduit may be stored outsideand uncovered for a period of not less than one year. Permanentcolor identification shall be permitted to be as solid color, asstripes
23、, as a co-extruded skin, or a combination of these. Ifstripes are specified, multiple stripes shall be required, to aid inthe identification of the conduit. Colored conduit shall maintainits color for a period of 1 year when stored outside, or asotherwise agreed to by the specifier and producer.4.4.
24、2.1 Solid yellow or black with yellow stripes shall notbe used for identification of conduit due to risk of misidenti-fication with gas pipe.5. Requirements5.1 WorkmanshipEach layer of the conduit shall be ho-mogeneous throughout and essentially uniform in color, opac-ity, density and other properti

The inside and outsidesurfaces shall be free of visible cracks, holes, blisters, voids,foreign inclusions, or other deleterious defects.5.2 Dimensions and Tolerances:5.2.1 Outside DiametersThe outside diameters and toler-ances shall be as shown in Table 2 for IPS sizes, Table 3 forSchedules 40 a
26、nd 80 and Table 4 for “true” sizing, whenmeasured in accordance with Test Method D 2122.5.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thicknesses and tolerancesshall be as shown in Tables 5-8 for IPS sizes, Table 9 forSchedule 40, Table 10 for Schedule 80, and Tables 11 and 12for “True-sized” PE conduit when measure
27、d in accordancewith Test Method D 2122.5.2.3 Special SizesWhen mutually agreeable between themanufacturer and the purchaser, other sizes and wall thick-nesses shall be acceptable. The tolerance on outside diametershall be 6 0.5 percent of the nominal outside diameter. Thelowest permissible wall thic
28、kness for any conduit outsidediameter shall be 0.062 in. (1.57 mm). For wall thicknesses notlisted, the tolerances shall be the same percentage of thecalculated minimum wall thickness as the closest listed mini-mum wall thickness.5.2.4 Ribbed ConduitConduit shall be permitted to con-tain either (a)
29、spiral or oscillating spiral HDPE ribs inside ofthe conduit or (b) longitudinal ribs on the inside and/or outsideof the conduit. The inside diameter of the conduit relative tothis specification shall be measured between the ribs. Forinternally ribbed conduit, the manufacturer shall provide theTABLE

34、acturer shall provide the minimumoutside diameter and tolerance that circumscribes the externalrib projections.5.2.5 Friction ReductionInternal lubrication or a coex-truded layer on the inner wall of conduit for reducing frictionalresistance shall be permitted. Lubrication materials shall becompatib
35、le with the conduit and any cable jacketing.5.2.6 Toe-InWhen measured in accordance with 5.2.1, theoutside diameter at the cut end of the conduit shall not be morethan 1.5 % smaller than the outside diameter per 5.2.1. Outsidediameter measurement shall be made no closer than 1.5 pipediameters or 11.
36、8 in. (300 mm), whichever distance is less,from the cut end of the conduit.5.2.7 OvalityThe ovality (cross section) of 2 in.
