16、cess.4.1.2 Unless otherwise specified, Specification F 2282 shallbe used for procurement control of the material used tomanufacture machine screws, except chemical compositionshall be as specified in Section 5.4.2 Manufacture:4.2.1 Unless otherwise specified, the method of manufac-ture shall be cold

17、 forming.4.2.2 Machine screw threads shall be rolled.4.2.3 When specified by the purchaser, machine screwsshall be stress relieve annealed.5. Chemical Composition5.1 Machine screws shall have a heat analysis conformingto the requirements specified in Table 1.5.2 The IFI Steel Grade Designations spec

18、ified in the tabletitled Carbon Steels, Chemical Ranges and Limits, % ofSpecification F 2282 are suitable grades, providing the carboncontent shall not exceed 0.29 %.5.3 Product analyses shall be permitted to be conducted onfinished screws in each lot. The composition thus determinedshall not vary f

19、rom the heat analysis by more than theallowable limits in the table titled Permissible Variations fromSpecified Chemical Ranges, and Limits for Carbon Steel ofSpecification F 2282.5.4 In case of conflict or for referee purposes, the productanalysis shall take precedence.5.5 Screws are customarily fu

20、rnished from stock, in whichcase individual heats of steel cannot be identified.6. Mechanical Properties6.1 Tensile:6.1.1 Machine screws shall have a tensile strength of 60 000psi minimum.6.1.2 The machine screws shall meet the tensile load re-quirements in Table 2 when tested in accordance with 10.

Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 WorkmanshipSurface discontinuities for machinescrews with nominal diameters of No. 5 and larger shallconform to the limits of Specification F 788/ F 788M.8.2 FinishUnless otherwise specified, the machine screwsshall be supplied with a natural (as process

32、ed) finish, unplatedor uncoated.8.3 When electrodeposited coatings are specified, they shallbe in accordance with Specification F 1941.9. Number of Tests9.1 ChemicalSampling for chemical analyses shall be inaccordance with Guide F 1470.9.2 MechanicalSample size shall conform to GuideF 1470 when lot

33、control is applied, or to ISO 3269 whenshipping lots are applied.9.3 DimensionsSampling for dimensional complianceshall be in accordance with ASME B18.18.2M, unless other-wise specified in the referenced dimensional standard.9.4 When tests of individual lots are required prior toshipment, Supplement

34、ary Requirement S2 shall be specified inthe inquiry and order.9.5 The requirements of this specification shall be met incontinuous mass production for stock, and the manufacturershall make sample inspections to ensure that the productconforms to the specified requirements. Additional tests ofindivid

35、ual shipments of material are not ordinarily contem-plated.10. Test Methods10.1 ChemicalChemical analyses shall be performed inaccordance with Test Methods, Practices, and TerminologyA 751.10.2 TensileSizes No. 6 and larger shall be tension testedin accordance with Test Methods F 606 and sizes small

36、er thanSizes No. 6 in accordance with NASM 1312, Test Number 8.10.3 DuctilityDuctility testing shall be tested in accor-dance with the section on Ductility Test of ASME B18.6.4.10.4 HardnessHardness tests shall be conducted in accor-dance with Test Methods F 606. For screws smaller than No.10 size,

37、a referee test may be made at mid-radius usingmicrohardness measurement techniques.11. Certification and Test Reports11.1 Certification shall not be required unless specificallyrequested in the purchase document. When specified in thepurchase order, a producer certification shall be furnished tothe

38、purchaser, stating that the fastener was manufactured,sampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with this speci-fication and meets all of its requirements.12. Responsibility12.1 The party responsible for the machine screws shall bethe organization that supplies the machine screws to thepurchaser.

39、13. Product Marking13.1 Individual hex and hex washer head machine screwswith nominal diameter No. 6 and up to including34 in. shall bemarked with the manufacturers identification marking. At thediscretion of the manufacturer, other machine screw headstyles can be marked with the manufacturers ident

40、ificationmarking.14. Packing and Package Marking14.1 Packaging:14.1.1 Unless otherwise specified, packaging shall be inaccordance with Practice D 3951.14.1.2 When the purchaser requires special packing require-ments, they shall be defined at the time of inquiry and order.14.2 Package Marking:14.2.1

41、Each shipping container shall include or plainly bemarked with the following information:14.2.1.1 ASTM specification and date,14.2.1.2 Nominal diameter and length, product name, andhead and drive style,14.2.1.3 Name and brand or trademark of the manufacturer,14.2.1.4 Number of pieces,14.2.1.5 Purcha

Keywords15.1 carbon steel; machine screwsF2403063SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTSOne or more of the following supplementary requirements shall apply only when specified by thepurchaser in the inquiry and order (see 3.1.8). Supplemental requirements shall

Tensile TestingS1.1 When specified on the inquiry or purchase order,tensile testing shall be performed on each lot (manufacturing orshipping) of machine screws except those specified in 6.1.2.Tensile testing shall be performed and meet

44、the requirements of6.1, 9.2 and 10.2.S2. InspectionS2.1 When specified on the inquiry or purchase order,machine screw shall be subject to inspection by the purchaserat the place of manufacture. This will take place prior toshipment. The manufacturer shall afford the purchasers rep-resentative all re

45、asonable facilities to satisfy him that themachine screws are being furnished in accordance with thisspecification.S3. DuctilityS3.1 When specified on the inquiry or purchase order,ductility testing shall be performed on each lot (manufacturingor shipping) of machine screws. Ductility testing shall
