8、his British Standard has been prepared under the authority of the Ropes, Cordage and Netting Standards Committee. It is intended as a guide to purchasers and users of fishing nets, so that discussions between parties involved in the field will be simplified by reference to the classification number
9、of the required mounting method. Pictorial representation, without other explanation or description, has been chosen as the simplest method of supplying the necessary information. Clear diagrams of types of knots used in the mounting and joining of nets are also given. International Standard ISO3660
10、 is on the same subject and gives illustrations with definitions and explanations. The United Kingdom voted against the International Standard because many of the explanations were unacceptable; however, the majority of the illustrations were agreed and are used in this British Standard.
