6、n prepared under the direction of the Aerospace Standards Policy Committee, specifies requirements for a range of aircraft engine ignition cables that are suitable for use on high energy ignition circuits working at voltages of not more than4kV d.c. It is intended to be read in conjunction with BS G

7、 230 “General requirements for aircraft electrical cables (second series)” which specifies the general requirements and test methods for this range of cables. The standard requires the selection of the dielectric material so as to provide the minimum penalties of weight and space whilst offering rel

8、iable performance, and the dielectric insulation material should be suitable for printed identity marking methods. Cables manufactured to this standard are not required to meet BS3G 100, subsection3-13, Resistance to fire in designated fire zones. Care should be taken to select terminations which ha

9、ve been declared as suitable for use with the cable specified in this BritishStandard. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of i

11、icated in the amendment table on the inside front cover.BSG243:1990 BSI 01-2000 1 1 Scope This BritishStandard specifies the physical properties and performance requirements for high energy igniter cables of sizes030 and050 which are suitable for working at voltages of not more than4kV d.c. The cabl

12、es are suitable for continuous use where the maximum stabilized conductor temperature does not exceed260 C, and for applications involving flexing at temperatures down to65 C. NOTE 1The latest revision of an Aerospace standard is indicated by the prefix number. NOTE 2The titles of the publications r

13、eferred to in this standard are listed on the inside back page. 2 Construction 2.1 General The materials and method of construction used for the formation of the cables shall be defined and controlled to the satisfaction of the Approving Authority 1) . No change shall be made to such materials or pr

14、ocesses unless it can be shown to the satisfaction of the Approving Authority that the performance and handling properties of the cable have not been degraded. 2.2 Conductors 2.2.1 Conductors used in the manufacture of this cable shall comply with BS G 231. 2.2.2 Copper strands shall be nickel-plate

15、d (seeFigure 1). 2.3 Insulation 2.3.1 The insulation shall consist of two or more contrawrapped lapped layers of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tape sintered into an homogeneous mass (seeFigure 1). 2.3.2 The insulation shall not be loose on the conductor but it shall be possible to strip the insulat

16、ion from the conductor leaving the latter in a sufficiently clean condition to permit satisfactory connections to be made to terminations. 2.4 Properties Cable properties shall be in accordance with Table 1. 2.5 Colour The colour of the finished cable shall be white. 3 Designation and marking The de

17、signation and marking of the cable shall comply with clause4 of BSG 230:1984. 4 Packaging and labelling The packaging and labelling of cable shall comply with clause5 of BSG 230:1984. 5 Performance When tested in accordance with6.1 the cable shall comply with the specific requirements given in Table

18、 2. 6 Testing 6.1 Cable shall be tested in accordance with Table 2. Test methods shall comply with BS G 230. 6.2 The application of tests for qualification approval, production quality testing, inspection lot testing and production routine testing shall be in accordance with Table 3. Test methods sh

19、all comply with BS G 230. 1) The Approving Authority shall be either: a) for UK civil aviation products, the Civil Aviation Authority (or their accredited representative); or b) for UK military products, the Quality Assurance Directorate nominated in the relevant Ministry of Defence contract. 39、 specimen of cable1.5m long by removing25 1.0mm of insulation from each end. Form the specimen into a loose coil of not less than0.3m diameter and lay it on a wire screen for handling throughout the test. Place the specimen in a pre-heated air circulating oven for30min at a temperature of260 2 C. Re

40、move the specimen from the oven and within two minutes place in another chamber which has been pre-cooled to65 2 C for a period of30min. Remove the specimen and allow a minimum period of30min to return to room temperature of20 C to25 C. At the conclusion of this test measure to the nearest0.25mm the

41、 length of exposed conductor from the end of each layer of insulation. Repeat the thermal shock cycle and the measurements for an additional three cycles. Finally, subject the specimen to the immersion test16(a) of BSG 230 using a test voltage of5kV(r.m.s.). Appendix B Hot dielectric test Wind five

42、turns of cable round a25mm diameter metal mandrel with150mm ends free, and place in an oven, Raise the temperature slowly to260 2 C. After1h at this temperature apply a voltage of3kV(r.m.s.), rising by1kV (r.m.s.) each30min to5kV (r.m.s.), between the conductor and the mandrel and maintain for30min.
