Amendments This standard differs from DIN 16906:2007-10 as follows: a) the normative reference to DIN 50014 has been replaced by a reference to DIN EN ISO 2231; b) in 5.3, “DIN 50014-23/50-2” has been re

Previous editions DIN 16906: 1989-09, 2007-10 DIN 16906:2015-01 4 1 Scope This standard specifies general conditions governing the taking of samples and specimens from plastic sheeting complying with DIN 16922 and plastic films. The condit

、ng and testing 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 sample part of the entity of the product to be tested, forming the basis from which to take specimens 3.2. specimen body with dimensions as specified in the appropriate test stand
、ard, which has been taken from a sample for testing purposes 4 Sampling The sample shall be taken so as to comprise the entire sheet width. The length of sample taken is dependent on the area of specimen required. It shall be possible to ensure a minimum distance of the specimens to be taken of 100
、mm from any edge of the sample. The rolling direction shall be recorded by suitable marking of the sample. DIN 16906:2015-01 5 5 Specimens 5.1 Taking of specimens Depending on the properties to be investigated and the required number of specimens and the direction in which they are to be taken, spec
、imens shall be taken evenly over the whole sample area but at no point within 100 mm from any sample edge. The rolling direction of the sheet is the longitudinal direction. If the rolling direction is not recognizable, both main directions shall be designated “1” and “2”. If samples comprise a layer
、 (or layers) of knitted fabric, it shall be ensured that the specimens in transverse direction are taken parallel to the course and that those specimens in longitudinal direction are taken parallel to the wale. If samples comprise a layer of woven fabric, specimens shall be taken along the thread. S
、amples shall not exhibit any creases or kinks as a consequence of the sampling procedure and shall be free of any visible surface defects. If this is not possible, this shall be recorded in the test report. If it is not possible to take the required number of specimens, this shall be recorded in the
、 test report. Specimens can be made or taken using press knives (5.2) or other suitable cutting tools. This shall be done without damaging the specimens. 5.2 Press knives Specimens shall be taken using press knives with the appropriate geometry and suitable ancillary equipment. The blade of the pres
、s knife shall meet the following conditions (see Figure 1): the inside face shall be vertical to the plane into which the cut is to be made; the angle formed between the internal and external surfaces shall be (20 1); the wedge of this angle shall be of a depth d exceeding the thickness of the plast
、ic sheeting. Figure 1 Press knife 5.3 Conditioning The specimens shall be conditioned in standard atmosphere 23/50-Atmosphere B according to DIN EN ISO 2231 for at least 24 h. They shall be positioned so as to be exposed to this atmosphere on all sides. In cases of dispute, specimens shall be condit
、ioned to constant mass. This is deemed to be reached when the results of two successive weighings separated by a time interval of at least 6 h differ by not more than 1 % of the mass of the specimen. DIN 16906:2015-01 6 6 Test report This standard is generally referred to in the relevant test standa
、rds in the clauses dealing with the taking of samples and specimens and conditioning. For this reason, the following information for a test report shall be included in the test report of the test standard: a) a reference to this standard (DIN 16906); b) any creases, kinks or any other defects, which
、 are a consequence of the production or conditioning process; c) any deviations from this standard; in cases of dispute: d) information on the two weighing results which were indicative of constant mass.
