Amendments This standard differs from DIN 7500-2:1984-12 as follows: a) normative references have been updated; b) specifications for copper materials have been deleted; c) in Table 1, engagement lengths of 2,2 mm, 3,2 mm, and the range from 0,8 mm to 1,8 mm have been deleted, and the e
7、ntire range of engagement lengths has been extended up to 30 mm; d) reference to the International Patent Classification has been deleted. Previous editions DIN 7500-2: 1984-12 DIN 7500-2:2016-04 4 1 Scope This standard specifies guideline values for hole diameters of thread rolling screws complying
8、 with DIN 7500-1 and DIN 267-30. These hole diameters are the result of practical tests carried out by manufacturers and users. The values given are intended for guidance and they are assigned to various materials and lengths of engagement. For thread rolling screws according to DIN 267-30, the hole
9、 diameters only apply to screws made from aluminium materials. As there is a wide variety of designs of thread rolling screws where the rolling area is defined only in terms of the maximum length in DIN 7500-1 and DIN 267-30, it is advisable to examine the specified hole diameters, particularly in m
10、ass production, by internal checks. If the process of manufacturing the hole, e.g. punching, causes a hardness increase in the hole wall, larger hole diameters than those given in this standard may be required. This can also apply to cast holes (casting crust). An individual matching of the screw ge
11、ometry, including the rolling area, with the cast hole geometry is necessary, in particular for cast core holes. This standard does not apply to holes with particular shapes, e.g. triangular, octagonal. 2 Normative references The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced i

If such applications are nonetheless intended, the necessary hole diameters shall be determined by testing original parts in order to ensure lower screw-in torques on the one hand, and on the other hand to achieve the highest possible stripping torques. Larger lengths of engagement for the given thread sizes are not common practice. Therefore, when necessary, the suitable hole diameters shall also be determined by testing.
