1、1 INCH-POUND I A-A-55309 June 03,1997 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION SWEATSHIRT, PHYSICAL FITNESS UNIFORM The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to MIL-S-44212. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers one type of a knitted
2、jersey fleece sweatshirt. The sweatshirts are intended for use as a component of the Physical Fitness Uniform by personnel of the Department of Defense. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Description. The sweatshirt shall be hooded, long sleeve, and have a front slide fastener closure. The hood shall be
3、 of double thickness with eyelets and drawcord, the body includes split muff pockets (double thickness) and rib knit side panels (3-1/2 inches wide). The cuffs and waist shall be rib knit finished. 2.2 Materials. 2.2.1 Basic material. The cloth for the body, hood, sleeves and muff pockets of the swe
4、atshirt shall be a jersey knit fleece cloth consisting of 55 (+/-5)% cotton for comfort and absorbency, 1- 2% rayon or polyester and the remaining percentage acrylic fiber or a blend of fibers with comparable properties. The cloth for the cuffs, waist, and side panels shall be plaited 1x1 rib knit c
5、onsisting of 47 (+/-5)% cotton, 2-3% rayon or polyester and the remaining percentage acrylic fiber or a fiber with comparable properties. The color shall be light Heather Gray 446. Testing shall be in accordance with Table I. The sweatshirt shall be cut in the wale direction. 2.2.2 Thread. The threa
6、d for seaming and stitching shall be 2-ply cotton-covered polyester or spun polyester. The color shall be light gray, DoD shade AX, C.A. 66064 and shall show colorfastness to laundering, perspiration and light. Testing shall be in accordance with Table I. 2.2.3 Drawcord. The drawcord for the hood sh
7、all be 3/16 inch diameter, 100 percent filament nylon or a fiber with comparable properties having a minimum breaking strength of 150 pounds. The color shall be light gray, Dod shade AX, C.A. 66064 and shall show colorfastness to laundering. Testing shall be in accordance with Table I. Beneficial co

The eyelet for the waist drawcord shall be one piece, brass with a natural finish and a inside diameter large enough to allow the drawcord to pass easily through. 90 - 1/ AND 2/ 2.2.5 Slide fastener. 17、t shrink more than 10.0 percent for the sleeve length, body length and chest width. The sweatshirts shall be tested for shrinkage by using normal machine cycle 12Oo(+/-5“F) washing temperature, and dryer setting 140F. The sweatshirts shall not be moistened or pressed before measuring. Measurements s
18、hall be taken to the nearest O. 1 inch with the sweatshirts laid flat. Elongation shall be reported with a minus (-) sign. 2.5 Finished measurements. Commercial patterns shall be used. 2.7. Labeldmarking. A commercial type label shall include the contractor?s name, contract number,
24、size and National Stock Number (NSN). The commercial label shall include fiber and laundering information. Colorfastness to laundering shall apply. The commercial type label shall be attached to the inside of the sweatshirt. The care instructions shall read as follows. CARE INSTRUCTIONS Hand or mach
25、ine wash in cold or warm water (maximum 120F) Do Not Bleach or Iron. Tumble Dry low setting (maximum 140F) 2.7.1 Barcode label. The sweatshirts shall have a printed bar code label that is clearly legible and readable by scanner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN).
26、 The label shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded and/or packaged as specified. 2.7.2 Marking. The ink for screen printing ?ARMY? to the sweatshirt shall be black thermal plastic base ink (withstanding temperatures t
27、o 300F) or equal. The black ?ARMY? markings shall be screen printed on the front of the sweatshirt as shown in Figure 1. Letters shall measure 5/8 (+/-1/16) inch wide and 3 (+/-1/4) inches in height, see Figure 2. The overall width shall be 12 (+/- 1/4) inches and shall be positioned as specified in
28、 Table III. The printing shall have a rating of ?4? after 15 launderings when tested as specified in AATCC-61. The offerorkontractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the sal
30、ient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own standards and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 4.2 Visual examination. The swe
31、atshirts shall be examined for the following defects: Any hole, cut, or tear; any variation of shade; any spot or stain (outside), rancid odors, burns or scorch; raw edges, open seams, thread ends not removed, any material defects, distorted parts or poor workmanship; color not as specified; any com
32、ponent part omitted; label missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurement of item not as specified; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code causes damage to the item; any items not p
33、ackaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 5. Preservation, packing, and marking. The preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 6.
