Theneedtousecurativeproductsagainstwooddestroyingorganismsdependsuponacarefuldiagnosisbyexpert, qualifiedspecialiststodeterminetheprecisecausesofthedamage
21、toberectified.Thisshouldincludethetypeof woodattackingorganismsinvolvedandwhethertheyareactive,theenvironmentalcircumstances,especiallythe sourceandnatureofanywetting,thetypeofwoodinvolved,thenatureofthebuildingorconstruction,andthe structuralandphysicalsignificanceofthetimberwhichisdamagedoratrisko

CurativetreatmentcanbeachievedeitherbychemicalwoodpreservativesasspecifiedinthisEuropeanStandard orbyspecificcurativeprocesseswithoutusingchemicals,likehotairprocesses,asgiveninprENWI00038084. Curativewoodpreservativeproductsshouldbeusedinanintegratedwayaspartofacarefullyprescribedstr
23、ategy involvingaseriesofactionsappropriatetotheparticularcircumstancesofeachcase.Associatedphysical measuresinvolvingappropriatebuildingworkstoremedyingressofmoistureandtodryoutanydampnesscanbe anessentialprerequisitefortheuseofanycurativeproducts.Expertdiagnosisshouldtakeintoaccountall regional,pra
24、ctical,environmental,economical,safetyandanyotherfactorswhichcanberelevanttothe prescriptivedecisionstobetaken. ItisnotthepurposeofthisEuropeanStandardtoprovideaspecification,orevenguidanceindeveloping specificationsforremedialworktoeradicatewooddestroyingorganisms.ThisEuropeanStandardalsodoesnot gi

26、Scope ThisEuropeanStandardspecifiestheminimumperformancerequirementsinbiologicaltestsforproductsfor curativeusesagainstspecificwooddestroyingorganisms.Itspecifiesthebiologicaltestsrequiredtogetherwiththe performancecriteriatobeachievedineachtest. Chemicalsagainstinsectscanactaccordingtotheirspecific
27、propertieswithinashorttime(fastacting)oronlyafter alongperiod(slowactingorwithadeferredeffect).Differenttestsandperformancerequirementsareneededfor thesevarioustypesofcurativewoodpreservatives. ThisEuropeanStandardisapplicabletoallwoodpreservativeproductssuppliedforapplicationinliquidformfor curativ
28、eusesagainstattackbywoodattackinginsects,excludingtermites.ThisEuropeanStandardisalso applicableforproductsappliedtopreventgrowthofdryrotfungusthroughmasonry.
