14、s been prepared by Technical Committee CENIE 301, Electrically propelled road vehicles, the Secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 1997, an

15、d conlicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 1997. This European Standard EN 1987 consists of the following Parts, under the general title EZectricdy propelled mad vehicles - Sphfc requirements for safetty. - Part 1 : On board energ7/ storage; - Part 2 : Functional sa

16、fety means and protection against faure; - Part 3 : Protection of users against electrical h.uza not the on board electric power source, e.g. the traction battery, not the aiunliary electsonic devices, and not converters, e.g. d.c.1d.c. converter, on bod charger (unless it is common with the inverte

17、r motor controller). 3.11 connection terminai A connection terminal is a live part of a battery module outside the enclosure of the battery module, intended to transmit electrical enera. 4Marking 4.1 Battery pack Nearby the battery pack shall appear the symbol given in figure 1. 18、e unaiterable and very visible if someone tries to access the battery 4.2 Battery type The chemical type of battery shall be cleariy and visibly indicated for the benefit of emergency and rescue people. 19、e the maximum flow rate (ii cubic metses per hour) and the maximum volume (i cubic metres) in the two following situations: - in case of normal service; and - in case of a rst fahre of devices involved in the NOTE. These two values can be used to determine the ventilation device in the charging room

20、 charging process. 6 Instahtion rules of the battery 6.1 Protection against direct contact Protection against direct contacts shall conform to clause 6 of prEN 1987-3 : 1996. 6.2 Insulation resistance of the battery 6.2.1 Test method Considering the requirements and the measuring devices used, this

21、test is not applicable for insulation resistances of the battery higher than 1 Ma. If the batteqy has a galvanic link to the electrical chassi of the vehicle, the insukition resistance values and the measurement method are stili valid To do the measurement, it is oniy necessary to disconnect the bat

22、tery from the electrical chassis of the vehicle. Throughout the test, the battery shall have an open circuit voltage greater than its nominal value. The two poles of the battery shall be disconnected from the power circuit. The voltmeter used in this test shall measure dc. values and have an interna

23、l resistance greater than 10 Ma. 27、b24bb7 Ob37785 533 6.4 Ventilation 6.4.1 General To prevent explosion, fire or toxicity hazards, the following actions shall be respected when gases can be produced by the battery: - no potenMy dangerous accumuMion of gas generated by the battery is allowed anywhere in the vehicle; - no potentially

28、dangerous quantity of gas generated by the battery is ailowed in the passenger compartment or the enclosed load space. An example of air flow calculation for hydrogen exhaust is given in annex B, together with some basic chemical mies. 6.4.2 Tests and requirements 6.4.2.1 Test and requirement for hy

29、drogen To ensure that the critical level of hydrogen inflammability has not been reached anywhere, the foilowing test has to be applied. When charging the vehicle, the hydrogen concentration shail be measured outside a volume specified by the vehicle manufacturer around every gas exhaust No ignition

30、 point shall be located inside the volume specified by the vehicle manufacturer around gas exhausts. NOTE 1. The possible ignition points are: - electrical contacts; - fuses; - contact brushes; - brake pads; - electrostatic discharge; - possible external source e.g. cigarette, lights, etc. During th

31、e test, the recorded values of hydrogen concentrations outside these specified volumes shall be: - less than 0,s % in case of a normal running of the vehicle (driving, charging, etc.) inside and outside the vehicle; - less than 3,5 % in the case of a first failure inside and outside the vehicle. NOT

32、E 2. A first failure can be: - a faiiiig ventilation device (inside the vehicle). Then, a sufficient natural venilation shall avoid a dangerous concentration of hydrogen being reached - damage of the charger. Then, either the charger is fitted with safety devices and stops, or a forced ventilation s

33、hall be provided; - release of battery connection terminal, - disconnection of a gas exhaust tubing, etc. 6.4.2.2 Tests and requirements for othm gases NOTE. Along with development of new battery technologies, tests and associated requirements will be defined in future revisions of this standard. Pa

34、ge 7 EN 1987-1 : 1997 6.6 Chemical hazards Under normal conditions, no chemical reactant shall escape -om the battery in potenWy dangerous quantity. Under abnonnal leakage of liquid, spray or vapour, consequences shall be reduced to a minimum, especiaLly in the passenger compartment 6.6 Inter-batter

35、y modules liaison “ahg into account the environment of the battery, special attention shali be called to the connection operation of inter-battery modules (tightening, sealing, etc.).The battery manufacturer shall supply al recommendations to these connection operations, to satisfy the environmental

36、 requirements of the vehicle manufacturer (vibration, mechanical shocks, thermai shocks). 7 Overcurrent battery switch 7.1 Function The over-current battery switches have an independent safety function from the other equipment of the propulsion system. They shall open the batteqy current circuit whe

37、n an overstepping of the limits of a normal runnjng occurs. These current oversteppings can have two origins: - failure in the drive system; - short-circuit of the b - the internal resistance of the battery; - the status of charge of the batteW. The characteristic operating time - shortcircuit curre

38、nt shail be chosen according to these parameters, in order to ensure the protection of the battery on one side, and of the power circuit on the other side. O BSI 1997 Page 8 EN 1987-1 : 1997 8 Specific requirements for the crash test regarding on board energy storage 8.1 Protection of occupants a) I

39、f the battery or battery packs are not located inside the passenger compartment, the battery, or battery packs, or their components (battery modules, electrolyte) shall not penetrate inside the passenger compartment. b) If the battery or battery packs are located inside the passenger compartment, in

40、 accordance with clause 6, any movement of the battery or baery packs due to the crash shall be limited to ensure the safety of the passengers. In both cases, 6.6 shall apply 8.2 Protection of third party The battery, battery packs, or their components (battery modules, electrolyte) shall not be eje

41、cted from the vehicle. An electrolyte leakage is tolerated only under the vehicle. 8.3 Protection against short circuit In case of crash, the power circuit shall be protected against the effects of short-circuit. The over-cwent switches defined in 7.2 and 7.3 meet this demand 9 Safety requirements r

42、egarding the battery after an inversion of a vehicle in this case, the particular requirements defined in 8.1 are applicable.
