The text of the draft was submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure and was approved by CENELEC as EN 186300 on 1998-01

17、-01. The following dates were fixed: - latest date by which the EN has to be implemented at national level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 1999-08-01 - latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the EN have to be withdrawn (dw) 1999-08-01 It

Type MSC is a connector set of the plug-adapto

24、r-plug configuration. It features a push-pull coupling mechanism and cylindrical butting ferrules. The optical alignment mechanism is a split sleeve contained within the adaptor. The specification contains the requirements for type MSC connector sets. Detail specifications (DSs) shall be prepared us

25、ing the following pro forma general blank detail specifications (BDSs) associated with the generic specification. For example: - EN 186005 for environmental category V. When completed, the DS(s) applicable to this SS shall be numbered in accordance with CECC O0 700 (Section IV) Issue 1, clause 4.2,

26、as follows. 30、ibre System, may emitproduce potentially hazardous radiation. The manufacturers of connectors are not obliged to mark them as such, but sufficient information should be made available in the manufacturers literature to enable the system designer to assess the degree of hazard. This information shall

31、 be given prominence in the detail specification (DS). .4.2 the assembler, of the necessary safe work practices. The assembly instructions, included in the connector package, shall give a prominent warning to Page 6 EN 186300: 1999 1.4.3 who should refer to IEC 60825-1. As there is no safety guide f

32、or light emitting diodes (LEDs), IEC 60825-1 shall apply to systems using these also. The responsibility for the safe application of the connector lies with the system design engineer, 1.4.4 WARNING DSs should give the following information in a prominent position : “Care should be taken when handli

33、ng small diameter optical fibre, to prevent it puncturing the skin, especially in the eye area. Direct viewing of the end of an optical fibre or a terminated optical fibre, while it is propagating energy is not recommended unless prior assurance has been obtained as to the safe energy of the output

The requirements for connector sets components covered by t

35、his specification are as specified herein and in the relevant DS. 2.1 Classification The connector sets covered by this specification are classified as : Type: - type I: MSC-PC, - type 2: MSC-APC - coupling mechanism: push-pull, NOTE: Type 1 and type 2 are not intended to be used together. Configura

36、tions: - plug i adaptor i plug Arrangements: - kit, - pigtail, - patchcord. Environmental categories: the DS-writer shall select the appropriate BDS for the chosen environmental category. Assessment levels: - level A, - level B, - level C. The mating face dimensions for connector set configurations

37、are given in Figures 1 and 2. The applicable configuration, arrangement, style, variants, climatic category and assessment levels shall be specified in the DS. The coupling sleeve shall be movable toward the right-and the left-directions. These dimensions are given when the coupling sleeve is moved in its most righ

41、t-direction position. 3. The dimension J is given for the plug endface when not mated. Note that the ferrule is movable by a certain axial compression force with direct contacting end faces. and therefore the dimension J is variable. Ferrule compression force shall be 5,5 N to 6.5 N when the positio

42、n of the optical datum target from the datum X is moved in the range of 3,9 mm to 4,l mm. In addition, the dimension J shall become less than 3.25 mm with a relatively large axial compression force. 4. The dimension Q shall be negative when the outer sleeve is in the extreme left position. 5. The do

43、me eccentricity of the spherical polished endface shall be 50 pm maximum. For angled polished endfaces the dome offset shall be measured not only in the nominal position of the ferrule in the plug, but also in the extreme positions while rotated within the plug. 49、rocedures The quality assessment procedures of EN 186000-1 Section three apply. 3.1 Qualification approval 3.1 .I Qualification by fixed sample procedure When specified, the fixed sample procedure shall be in accordance with 3.3.1 of EN 186000-1 The relevant BDS contains the minimum mandatory test and performance requirements for qualification by the fixed sample procedure. The complete set of mandatory test schedules and performance requirements shall be specified in the DS. Qualification approval is granted for the complete range of variants submitted as structur
