SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a paper felt, asphalt saturated with a pressure sensitive adhesive on one side. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for mat
3、erial used as access hole sealers for the 1982 Ford/Mercury. 3. REQUIREMENTS The requirements herein are based on material without release paper unless otherwise specified. 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard

7、t three 71 x 254 mm test specimens and remove release liner. B Bond test specimens to a 76 x 305 mm “E“ coated test panel, allowing a 25 mm overhang. C Roll each test specimen with 910 g +/- 5% (25 mm diameter x 203 mm long) roller, one forward and one return roll. D Firmly press a 70 +/- 2 g (11 x
8、11 x 71 mm) steel bar onto the outermost edge of the exposed adhesive surface. E Suspend each panel so that it is in a horizontal plane with the test specimen bonded to the underside. Expose panels for 24 h at room temperature followed by 24 h at 71 +/- 2C in a mechanical convection oven. F Measure
9、the amount of felt separation from the steel panel. Measure from the front of the steel panel to the felt portion still bonded. 3.10 ODOR Shall be free of obnoxious odors. 3.11 MILDEW RESISTANCE No visual evidence of mildew growth and no mildew odor after 7 days exposure in a humidity cabinet contro

11、it a flame across its surface, at a rate of more than 4 in (101 mm) per min. To demonstrate compliance the sample size and method of testing shall be in accordance with FLTM BN 24-2. 3.13 PERFORMANCE - ENVIRONMENTAL AGING All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specific
12、ation that have not been treated, modified or reformulated and exceed a max burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per min as specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2, must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerate
13、d environmental aging requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification Any material, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24
14、-2, regardless of max burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical and physical properties per ESB-M25P3-A applicable to the basic materials category of this particular specification. 3.14 FLAMMABILITY TEST PROGRAM Mater
15、ials, portions of components, and composites governed by this specification must also comply with the requirements of ES-D3AB-11014-AA. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. This material is not recommended for use in applications that would bring it in contact with trim materials, as staining may occur.
