SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a clear lacquer specifically formulated to provide good adhesion to polycarbonate plastic parts. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for lac
3、quer used on exterior lenses when conformance to the weatherability requirement of SAE J576 is mandatory. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111
4、-A). 3.1 COMPOSITION The material shall be composed of a blend of resins and solvents properly balanced to produce the clarity, color, gloss, and durability required by this specification. 3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.2.1 Non-Volatile, min 14% (FLTM BI 102-01) 3.2.2 Viscosity (As Received), min 18 s (A
5、STM D 3794, para 6.1.3.2, Zahn #2 Cup) 3.2.3 Stability The material shall not jell or liver upon standing. Test Method: Place a sealed, 3/4 full, 0.5 L can in an oven for 16 h at 60 +/- 1 C. An appreciable increase in viscosity (approximately 10 s) shall indicate non-stability. 3.3 PREPARATION OF TE
6、ST PANELS 3.3.1 Substrate Obtain test panels fabricated from ESB-M4D100-A2, Polycarbonate Optical Grade Plastic. 7、 apply a film thickness as specified in para 3.5. 3.3.3 Curing Material shall air dry to a tack-free condition in 30 minutes and shall fully cure when subjected to any of the following bake cycles. . 2 h at 82 +/- 2 C . 30 minutes at 93 +/- 2 C . 20 min at 107 +/- 2 C . 10 min at 121 +/- 2 C 3.3.4 A
8、ging Age the panels for 16 h at 43 +/- 2 C or 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C before testing. 3.4 APPEARANCE 3.4.1 Clarity This material, when applied over polycarbonate lenses, shall not alter the color of the lens. 3.4.2 Color Clear (Water White) 3.4.3 Gloss Must match the initial approved sample on file in th
9、e Body Materials Engineering Department. 3.4.4 General The lacquer shall cure out to a presentable, serviceable film showing no craters, pinholes, seediness or abnormal roughness. 3.5 FILM PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Adhesion No flaking or chipping (FLTM BI 106-01) 3.5.2 Film Thickness 8 - 12 micrometer (FLTM

11、ar with a min degree of loss of gloss. No increase of brittleness or loss of adhesion is permitted and the material shall be completely free from evidence of cracking, checking, blistering, or peeling when exposed as follows: 3.6.1.1 Florida Exposure (Miami Area), min 36 months at 5 facing south. 3.
12、6.1.2 Accelerated Weathering, min 1600 h (FLTM BO 101-01, Atlas Weatherometer) 3.6.2 Resistance to Water and Soap Spotting (FLTM BI 113-01, except the use of the colorimeter is omitted) The film shall exhibit no more dulling or color change than the approved master sample on file in the Body Materia
13、ls Section. 3.6.3 Resistance to Acid Spotting (FLTM BI 113-02, except use of the colorimeter is omitted) The material shall exhibit no more dulling or color change than the approved master sample on file in the Body Materials Section. 3.6.4 Water Resistance, min 96 h (FLTM BI 104-01) 3.6.5 Gasoline
14、Resistance Shall exhibit no softening, dulling, color transfer, color change, blistering or show any evidence of loss of adhesion. Test Method: Place approximately 2 to 5 mL of M-14J507 Petroleum Naphtha Aliphatic Type on the painted surface and cover with a watch glass or other such device to preve
15、nt evaporation. Expose for 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C minimum. Wipe the panel with a soft cloth and examine the cloth for evidence of color transfer and the paint film for evidence of degradation. 16、ERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 FLAMMABILITY This material represents a potential fire hazard. The Manufacturing Engineering Department shall notify both the Plant Security and the Safety Units of its presence in the Plant to assure that proper fire precautions are provided.
