4、gent Grade, Redistilled 2N) Toluene, Dry (Reagent Grade) Brom Cresol Green - Water Soluble Hydrochloric Acid .5 N - standardized by accepted method to +/- .001 N. Distilled Water Isopropyl Alcohol - Anhydrous (Reagent Grade) Preparation of Reagents Dibutyl-Amine (2 Normal) Caution: Handle in fume ho
5、od. Add by graduate 340 cc of dibutyl amine to the 1000 cc graduate. Dilute to 1000 cc with the dry toluene. Mix well and store in a brown bottle, away from any light. Note: This quantity is sufficient for 30 - 40 tests. Indicator .1 gram brom cresol green, indicator grade. Dissolve in distilled wat
6、er and dilute to 100 mL with distilled water. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unl
7、ess otherwise specified. Procedure Weigh the sample to be tested according to chart. 8、right 2001, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 1. Clean the 500 cc Erlenmeyer flask. 2. Add required amount of sample (see chart) to flask. Use glass hypodermic syringe. 3. Add 25 mL of toluene into flask, using pipette. Dissolve sample. Warm gently if necessary. DO NOT BOIL. 4. Add 20 mL of the 2 norma
9、l dibutyl-amine solution into flask and stopper. Swirl vigorously and allow to cool for 10 - 20 minutes to 23 +/- 2 C. CAUTION: Moisture must be kept out of solution. 5. Add 100 mL of isopropyl alcohol. 6. Add 10 drops of brom cresol green indicator. 7. Titrate carefully with .5 N HCL to a yellow en
10、d point, taking at least 15 seconds. 8. Run a blank determination in the same manner simultaneously, using all the reagents but omitting the sample. Calculation: Amine Equivalent = W (B - S) x N W = Sample weight in milligrams B = Volume of HCl used in blank S = Volume of HCl used in sample N = Exact normality of HCl Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
