、d Global Technologies, Inc FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BP 111-01 Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 OC and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the
、 same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Cut a 250 mm length of belt aged according to the relevant Engineering Material Specification. Fit the toothed pulley specified in the Engineering Material Specification onto the slide plate (Item 5) and lock in place. Loose
、n the screw and ring nut and insert the FIFTH tooth from one end of the cut belt into the pulley groove so that the remainder of the belt hangs below the fixture. Insert the slide plate between the neck of the belt and the bearing wheel. Tighten the screw until the index tabs just grip the spacer ba
、r, then lock the ring nut. Suspend the fixture from the top clamp of the Tensile Testing Machine and grip the free end of the belt in the lower clamp. Pull the belt at a rate of 50 mm/minute in order to shear the tooth engaged in the pulley from the belt. Continuously record the force/displacement c
、urve on the autographic recorder. Repeat the test on a minimum of 4 sample belts. Evaluation The tooth shear load shall be evaluated as the arithmetic mean of the maximum load value obtained for each of a minimum of five test results. The results obtained for teeth pulling over the pulley tooth with
、out shearing shall be accepted providing the value is greater than the specified minimum. If the value without shearing is below the specified minimum then the test shall be repeated one more time on another test piece. This value shall be accepted whether the tooth shears or not.
