、plication This procedure is used to determine the expansion characteristics of sheet materials that are expanded between metal body panels to provide “constrained layer“ damped steel. Apparatus Required Mechanical Convection Oven Must be capable of obtaining a metal temperature of 204 +/- 2 C on 0.9
、0 mm thick CRLC steel within 8 - 10 minutes. (Blue M Model No. POM-166A-GX or equivalent.) Materials Required Screwdriver Refer to para 5 of this procedure. Knife Refer to para 5 of this procedure. Test Panels CRLC steel panels (100 x 100 x 0.90 mm). Attaching Hardware Spacers (washers or equivalent
、) and either nuts and bolts or clamps. Solvent Methyl alcohol, 1.1.1 trichloroethane (M5B58) or other solvent suitable for removing surface oil and soils from the steel panels. Caution: Low flash point and/or requires good ventilation. Refer to Industrial Hygiene for health and safety comments. Cond
、itioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Store in a desiccator if there is to be more than a delay of an hour before commencing step two of this procedu
、re. Do not touch the panel surface which will face the test material after the panel has been cleaned. Prepare test assemblies (as shown in Figure 1) for the gaps stipulated in the applicable Engineering Material Specification. 2. Cut and place a 50 x 50 x 1 mm test sample (cut “in square“ with the
、“machine direction“ of the material) between the panels of each assembly. 3. Heat-expose one assembly at each stipulated gap for each cure schedule specified in the applicable Engineering Material Specification. 4. Allow the assemblies to cool to 23 +/- 2 C and then remove the nuts, bolts and spacer
、s. 5. Separate the panels by prying with a screwdriver. If it is too difficult to separate the panels using a screwdriver, cut through the material with a knife or other suitable instrument. 6. Examine the panels upon separation. Measure and record the maximum perpendicular distance between opposite
、 sides of the material in both the machine and the across machine directions on both panels of each assembly. (Refer to Figure 2.) Refer to the applicable Engineering Material Specification for requirements. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BV 021-01 Page 3 of 3 Copyright 2000, Ford Global Technologies, Inc.
