SCOPE The materials defined by this specification are ferritic chromium rust resisting steels in the form of plate, sheet or strip. 2. APP

3、LICATION These materials are primarily intended for the manufacture of interior decorative trim mouldings and exterior moulding above the waistline level. As a general recommendation alloy A is for interior mouldings and alloy B for exterior mouldings. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR P

Any additional requirement shall be specified on the Component Engineering drawing. 3.4 MATERIAL - AS RECEIVED FROM THE MILL 3.4.1 Surface Finish Material supplied to this specification shall be uniform in quality, c

7、lean, sound, smooth, not to exceed 0.25 m finish and free from defects detrimental to performance fabrication, corrosion resistance or appearance of the part for which it is intended. The surface quality shall be such that the material can be buffed to a finish and luster to meet visual acceptance s

The 0.25 m finish does not apply to areas where a special surface texture is specified. 3.4.2 Corrosion Resistance The material shall hav

9、e been given sufficient final pickling and passivation treatment to obtain an acceptable corrosion resistance. Material as received and given no further preparation shall not show signs of failure by red rust, pit corrosion or etching type corrosion in excess of that given below when subjected to 16

Exterior parts 2 % max surface Interior parts 15 % max surface (Percentage corrosion attack is determined by grid method described in FLTM EU-BQ 5-1). 3.5 FINISHED PRODUCT - BRIGHT DECORATIVE FINISH 3.5.1 Surface Finish Finished products shall have been

11、buffed by an appropriate method to produce an acceptable surface finish and lustre as approved by the affected Engineering Design office. 3.5.2 Corrosion Resistance Significant surfaces of finished parts shall not show more than 2 % surface attack for exterior parts and 15 % maximum surface attack f

GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. Material to specification SD-M1A9101-A may be used as an alternative for production released components but not for prototype components. Material compositions meeting this specification are BS 1449 Pt. 4 1967, 430S15 and 442S19, also X8 CR 17 DIN 17440.
