SCOPEThe material defin

2、ed by this specification is a solvent borne, modifiedpolyester baking primer surfacer for exterior automotive application.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used as primersurfacer over baked EC surfaces on doors and hoods, prepared to replacedamaged parts after the

3、 body paint process. The primer can be cured in theenamel baking oven at 120 C. It can be painted with solvent borne top coatsystems as well as waterborne basecoats.The primer is suitable for electrostatic spray application.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppliers must conform to the requirem

4、ents of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOT

5、OMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shallconstitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesigna

6、ted material laboratory. All samples shall product IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned ina controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relati

9、I 111-01)3.5.4 Spray Viscosity As specified by the supplier(FLTM BI 111-01)The material shall be reduced with Xylene (WSK-M14J239-A),Solvesso 100 (S-M14J210-A) or any equivalent thinner.3.5.5 Storage Stability 90 daysDuring a storage between 5 and 32 C temperature material assupplied shall not settl

After thestorage the material must pass all specificationrequirements.3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS(FLTM BI 103-02, Method B,b)3.6.1 Substrates- Standard Steel Panels per para 5.2For Initial Approval only- Precoated Steel Panels as used in the plant.All steel substrates shal

13、approved two coat silver metallic aswell as dark solid colour top coat; film thickness andapplication as specified in the relevant paint materialspecification.3.6.5 AgeingTest panels prepared under this specification shall be agedfor at least 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 +/- 1 C beforetesting fo

14、r resistance properties.3.7 APPEARANCEColour, gloss and surface finish of the painted part shall matchmaster Trim Sample and/or Master Appearance Sample as approved byDesign.3.7.1 Colour (Primer only) Grey or in accordance with the(FLTM BI 109-01) primer colours used in the plant.3.7.2 Gloss (Primer

15、 only) 75 - 90 %(FLTM BI 110-01, 60 deg)3.8 PAINT FILM PROPERTIES3.8.1 LevelingThe surface of the primer shall be smooth without anystructure and not more than a minimum of orange peel whenapplied in a dry film thickness of 35 micrometre.3.8.2 HoldoutNo evidence of dulling, no craters or pinholes an

22、ng(FLTM BI 104-01)3.12 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSTest Panels and painted parts prepared according to para 3.6 of thisspecification shall meet all requirements of performancespecifications WSK-M2P136-A or S-M2P4503-C.3.13 COMPATIBILITYThe primer must be compatible with all related materials e.g.,sealers

23、, adhesives, EC-primer and top coat materials.The primer must be adaptable for application in accordance with FordMotor Company Process Specification U-C800.3.14 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inall characteristics to the material upon which a

24、pproval wasoriginally granted.Prior to making any changes in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labelling of the materialoriginally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Suppli

25、er shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed

26、by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Engineering Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specifiedon the engineering document for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS

27、Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Suppl

28、ier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstratingfull compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), t

29、he material designation and code number, andtest specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amaterial will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Uponapproval, the material will be added to th
