SCOPE These specifications are commonised for use by Ford Motor Company, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo. The materials def

3、ined by this specification are finished, full grain or corrected grain, selection A steer and heifer hides for Ford of Europe/Jaguar/Land Rover. Volvo hide selection according to purchasing specification. The hides shall have been tanned to retain the natural odour of the leather and softened to pro

4、vide maximum seating comfort without sacrificing the leathers remaining physical properties. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for material used as interior trim leather, excluding instrument panel covers and steering wheels. Because the hand and appearance characteristics

5、 will be adversely affected, the leather shall not be subjected to steam or radiant heat or organic solvents during any manufacturing process except as specified below. Corrected grain leather shall be snuffed using one pass of 320 grit paper. The method of correction shall be agreed with Purchasing

6、 and Materials and Body Engineering. 3. REQUIREMENTS For all test methods, no individual specimen shall fall below the minimum values specified herein. Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Materi

7、al suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 SAMPLE SELECTION (ASTM D 2813) Test samples to be taken from specified areas of the hide. 3.3 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-01) The color, grain, visual aesthetics, hand and fi

8、nish shall match the approved Design Centre master sample, or shall be as specified on the Engineering Drawing. 9、revent undyed fibers from showing through after sewing or perforation. Also, the colour of the dye must be compatible in appearance with the surface coating. No stucco permitted. 3.5 FINISH All hides shall show no paint defects or surface blemishes affecting the appearance of the material, such as b

10、rush marks or stops and bad flows. 3.6 THICKNESS, mm, range (ASTM D 1813) For specific thickness values refer to the relevant Engineering Drawing. 3.7 BREAKING STRENGTH, min (ASTM D 2209) Any direction 125N 3.8 ELONGATION at break 30 - 70% (ASTM D 2211) 3.9 ELONGATION AT 100N LOAD 15 - 40% (ASTM D 2

11、209) 3.10 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PERFORATED LEATHER 3.10.1 Breaking Strength To be agreed for each (ASTM D 2209) perforated quality 3.10.2 Tear Strength To be agreed for each (ASTM D 5733) perforated quality 3.10.3 Resistance to Fibre Show Through None Visible All perforated leather/parts may b

12、e skived, perforated and flesh sealed to meet this requirement. Test Method: The test shall be conducted on a 305 mm x 305 mm area of original perforated leather seating surface, with moderate pressure, vacuum the entire surface for 1 minute using the vacuum cleaner specified in SAE J948 with 28 mm

13、nozzle and maximum pressure setting (100% Vacuum using Taber Test Vacuum), ensuring that there is sufficient air flow through the perforations. 15、any change in appearance, such as colour, tone change, fading or gloss change in excess of the required AATCC rating. In addition, the material shall not exhibit staining, blistering, loss of coating adhesion, flaking, chipping, checking, chalking, cracking, splits, sinks, bulges, peeling, tackiness

16、 or delamination. 3.12.1 Resistance to Fade (WSS-M1F29-A1) (SAE J1885, ISO 105-A02/ AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1) 225.6 kJ/m2Rating 4 488.8 kJ/m2Rating 3 In addition, the material must remain flexible and exhibit no cracking when bent around a 2.5 mm mandrel. 3.12.2 Resistance to Fade (WSS-M1F29-A2)

17、 (Volvo Std 1027, 359/ISO 105-A02/ AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1) 400 hours Rating 4 In addition, the material must remain flexible and exhibit no cracking when bent around a 2.5 mm mandrel. 3.12.3 Resistance to Heat Aging, min (7 days at 90 +/- 2 C, ISO 105-A02/ AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1) Rating

18、4 - 5 The heat-aged sample shall not exhibit colour tone change in excess of the above rating or excessive gloss change greater than the sample originally approved by Materials Engineering. For leather batch production: Predrying to be agreed on the certified

30、 Control Plan. 3.13.1.1 Method A: Photometric Procedure (SAE J1756, 3 h at 100 C heating, 21 C cooling plate, post test conditioning 16 h) Fog Number, min 70 If the fog number is less than 70, the material is rejected. Ingress, egress testing is required for all seating applications. Leather wear and process capability te

43、sts are required for all seating applications. In addition, other trim applications may require unique functional evaluations. These tests should be evaluated by a cross-functional team prior to color and trim strategy approval to assess the effects of the leather selection, seat style, sew style, l

44、eather perforation, foam hardness, etc. on the predicted level of customer satisfaction and long term durability. 4.
