2、 100% reactive, solvent - less epoxy resin where fast, heatless cure and low VOC emissions are required. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for coating and impregnating starter rotors. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must c

3、onform to Quality System Requirements, QS - 9000. Ma terial specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. A Control Plan for ongoing production verification is required. This plan must be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materials activity and/or Ford Su

4、pplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior to production parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data and assure consistent processing of the materials. Part producers using this material in their products, must use Ford approved materials and must confor

5、m to a process control plan which has been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra

6、and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shal l produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. ENGINEERING

7、 MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS - M7J42 - A WP 3948 - b Page 2 of 4 3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 25 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under

8、 the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 3.4 MIXING RATIO BY WEIGHT This material shall be mixed as follows: Epoxy Resin 100 Epoxy Harde ner 20 3.5 SPECIFIC GRAVITY (ASTM D 1475) Resin 1.15 - 1.17 Hardener 0.98 1.00 Mixed 100:20 1.12 - 1.14 3.6 VISCOSITY, cps (ASTM D 2196) Resin 300 400 Hard

9、ener 20 - 30 Mixed 100:20 200 - 300 3.7 FLASH POINT, C, min (ASTM D 93) Resin 75 Hardener 135 Mixed 100:20 75 3.8 SOLIDS, %, by weight, min (ASTM D 3288) Resin 100 Hardener 100 3.9 CURING The material shall completely cure in 20 minute s at 150 C. Test Method: Place 10 g of the mixed material in a 6

10、4 mm diameter aluminum evaporation dish and bake for 20 minutes at 150 +/ - 1 C. Remove from oven, air cool to room temperature and inspect varnish for internal tackiness. 3.10 CHARACTER ISTICS AFTER CURING The baked finish shall be hard, adherent and resistant to bending. The finish shall not lose

11、its physical or insulating properties when subjected to the long continuous action of heat and electrical stress. The finish shall also be resistant to the action of alkalies, acids, oils and moisture that may be present in its application environment. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS - M7J42

13、uivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to maki ng any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the mat

14、erials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Su pplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identificatio

15、n are to be submi tted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The regulations are defined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS - M99P9999 - A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specifica

16、tion must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engin eering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affect

17、ed Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full complia nce with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation a

18、nd code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this sp ecification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Materi

GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for cl arification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 SHELF LIFE, min 6 months (Unopened - from the date of shipment) 5.2 FLAMMABILITY This material represents a potential fire hazard. The Manufacturing Engineering D epartment shall notify both the security and the safety units of its presence in the plant. The location in which it is used or stored shall be included in the notification.
