SCOPE. This Commercial Item Descri
2、ption covers brushes for use with pneumatic or electric tools inthe removal of rust, scale, paint, or burrs from around rivet and bolt holes in all types of metal.2. CLASSIFICATION. Unless otherwise specified brushes shall conform to the following types,2.1 Brass.2.2 Tvpe II. Stainless Steel.2.3 Typ
3、e III. High carbon tempered steel.e+EDPilot-bonding brush,3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Desirer. Solid tilled end desi, with pilot pin of specified diameter extending beyond the end of thewire fill for use with portable power tools and drill presses.3.1.1 The body shall be 1/2 (+/- l/16)-inch in di
4、ameter and steel overall. Construction shall be insuch a manner as to insure even distribution of the wire throughout the bmsh to provide a balanced unitfor minimal vibration at maximum safe free speed. Provisions shall be made for securely holding the tillwires in place to prevent the wire from det

7、haft 1/4 (+0/-.005 inchch in diameter and of steel. Tominimize vibration the arbor shall be referenced to the body in a manner that ensures the brush to run truewhile in use.3.1.3 As specified, the crimped wire shall be of brass, stainless, or high carbon tempered steel. Thecrimped wire shall be com
8、prised of at least four, single-amplitude, three; dimensional-crimps per inch ofspecified dkurreter and with a trim length from 3/8 to 7/16-inch including the bridle. Where weldedconstruction is used, the wire shall not be burned, broken, or affected in any way by the welding process.3.2 Identificat
9、ion marking. The tool shall be marked with the Maximum Safe Free Speed, (RPM orMSFS), and the words “Wear Eye Protection”, the manufacturers name or identifying symbol and thestate or country of manufacture, unless otherwise specified. All identification markings shall be etched,engraved, molded, or
10、 indented directly on the items surface in such a manner that it remains clearlylegible throughout the life of the item.3.3 WorkrnanshiD Details of workmanship shall be in accordance with the best commercial practices.Paints, coatings, plating, and finishes shall be smooth, adherent, continuous and
11、not stained or discolored.External surfaces shall be free of tool and gouge marks, nicks, or other surface imperfections. The itemshall be free from manufacturing workmanship defects (e.g. sharp or rough external edges, corners, orsurfaces) and material workmanship defects (e.g. pits, rips, fins, bu
12、rrs, tears, nodules, cracks, or blisters),which may adversely impact the items serviceability, durability, safety, or appearance.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.4.1 Recovered materials. The supplier/manufacturer is encouraged to use recovered materials to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with
13、 paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation(FAR).4.2 Metric moducts. Products mamrfactrued to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basiswith those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified (usingconversion tables contained in the
14、latest revision of Federal Standard 376) and all other requirements ofthk document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceedthe tolerances specified in the inch- pound units, a request should be made”to the contracting officer todetermine if the product i
15、s acceptable.5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE.5,1 X The brushes shall comply with American Nationsd Standards Institute (ANSI) standardB1 65.1, Safety Requirements for the design, Care and Use of Power Driven Brushing Tools,5.2 Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics
16、of thk CommercialItem Description, conform to the suppliers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurancepractices, and the same product and offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reservesthe right to require proof of such conformance.5.3 Responsibility for inmrect
17、ion. Unless otherwise specified, the supplier is responsible for theperformance of all inspection requirements and may use any commercial facilities (including thesuppliers own facilities) suitable for performance of the inspection requirements, unless disapproved bythe Government. The Government re
18、serves the right to perform any inspections deemed necessary toassure the item conforms to the specified requirements. -6. PACKAGG.
