3、URRENT AND AMPERE-HOUR, DIGITAL (MJ3“RIC, NONMERCURY TYPE) This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command, Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers a digital c

4、urrent and ampere-hour meter (AHM) system for a submarine or surface ship storage battery circuit. 1.2 Classification. Metering systems shall be of the following classes and types as specified (see 6.2). 1.2.1 Class. Classes shall be determined by the application and shall be as follows: Class I - S

5、ubmarine application, TRIDENT, SSN 688 and SSN 637 - with ampere display suppressed Class II - Surface ship application - with ampere display operating Class III- Submarine application (SEAWOLF) - With ampere display operating and combined ampere-hour display and totalizing ampere-hour displays for

23、fic exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.6) in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Materials. Materials used in the construction of the metering systems shall be as specified herein. 4 Licensed b

The use of the element mercury in any component of the metering systems and for any manufacturing process is prohibited. 3.2.1.2 Thermionic devices. The use of thermionic dev

25、ices such as electron tubes is prohibited. 3.2.2 Recovered materials. Unless otherwise specified herein, all equipment, material, and articles incorporated in the products covered by this specification shall be new and may be fabricated using materials produced from recovered materials to the maximu

26、m extent practicable without jeopardizing the intended use. The term “recovered materials“ means materials which have been collected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as opposed to virgin raw materials. None of the above shall be interpreted to mean t

27、hat the use of used or rebuilt products is allowed under this specification unless otherwise specifically specified. 3.3 System assemblies. The current measuring and display subsystems shall consist of the following functional module assemblies: a. Ammeter function. The ammeter shall be a digital mo

28、dule of the specified class (see 1.2.1) and type (see 1.2.2). This functional module shall sense the voltage across the appropriate shunt and convert this signal into digital information. This information will be used to provide a direct reading display of current when required (see 1.2.1) and for t

29、he purpose of integration by the AHMS described in 3.3(b). The display shall consist of a minus sign (indicating discharge), no sign (indicating charge), and five decimal digits. A display of “OL shall indicate an overload condition. Currents as large as 2 9,999.8 amperes with a minimum resolution o

30、f one ampere for currents equal to or greater than 1, amperes and a minimum resolution of 0.1 ampere for currents less than 1, amperes shall be capable of being displayed. The leading zeros in the first three digits shall be suppresscd. Class I meters shall provide only overload and charge/discharge

31、 indication. b. Ampere-hour meters function. Two, digital AHM displays shall be provided. One of these shall digitally display the integral of the positive-polarity output and the other shall display the integral of the negative-polarity output of the ammeter function. Except for the front- panel le

32、gends, “charge“ or “discharge“, the two AHMS shall be identical and interchangeable. A momentary pushbutton switch shall be provided for each display on the front panel of the system which will permit the operator to clear the accumulated value to zero. The display shall be a seven-digit decimal wit

33、h the decimal point to the left of the least significant digit. The display shall suppress leading zeros, in the first five digits and shall provide indication of overflow beyond 999,999.9 AMP HRs. The ampere hour module shall be capable of retaining the accumulated AMP HR reading for a period of at

34、 least one week in the event of a power line failure. MIL-M-24614A( SH) Totalizing ampere-hour meter function. Two digital totalizing AMP HR d

35、isplays shall be provided. One shall display charge AMP HRs and the other discharge AMP HRs. The totalizing display be in the form of seven decimal digits to a maximum value of 9,999,999 AMP HRs. Totalizing displays shall be normally suppressed and a pushbutton switch shall be provided to permit the

36、 operator to enable the displays momentarily when desired. Except for the front-panel legends, “charge“ or “discharge“, the two totalizing displays shall be identical and interchangeable. Leading zeros, except for integer AMP HRs shall be suppressed in the display, and an indication of overflow beyo

37、nd 9,999,999 AMP HRs shall be provided. Each totalizing display shall be capable of being manually cleared to zero after the front face of the indicator is removed. Class III displays. There shall be two dual purpose ampere-hour displays: one for charge ampere-hours and one for discharge ampere-hour

38、s. There shall be one operating ammeter display. The ampere-hour meter function and the totalizing ampere-hour meter function shall be combined in a single case with separate push buttons for displaying total ampere-hours and resetting the ampere-hour meter. 3.4 Interconnections. Unless otherwise sp

39、ecified (see 6.2), cables shall not be furnished. When cables are furnished, the connections between the current shunt, the metering system, and the totalizing displays shall be made by shielded cables having a maximum resistance of 2.3 ohms per conductor per 100 meters at 25 degrees Celsius (“C) (t

40、ype LS2SWU of MIL-C-24643 and MIL-C- 24643/33). Maximum cable lengths will be 100 meters between the current shunt and the meter system. 3.4.1 Signai cable stuffing tube. For Classes I and II the signal cable stuffing tube shall conform to Military part number M1%22/1-001 in accordance with MIL-S-19

41、622 and MIL-S-1%22/1. 3.4.2 Power cable stuffing tube. For Classes I and II the power cable stuffing tube shall conform to Military part number M1%22/1-002 in accordance with MIL-S-19622 and MIL-S-l%22/1. 3.43 Stuffing tubes. Stuffing tubes shall conform to MIL-S-19622. 3.5 Construction of assemblie

42、s. , 3.5.1 General. The construction shall include, to the greatest extent possible, features that facilitate maintenance. Ail displays (or display modules) shall be removable for ease of repair or replacement. Printed wiring boards within the instruments shall be in accordance with requirement 17 o

43、f MIL-STD-454. The display digits shall be of the luminous type (either plasma discharge or light emitting diode (LED), orange in color, at least 1 centimeter (cm) in height, and easily readable in normal room illumination (750 Lux) at the face of the display over an angular range of at least plus o

44、r minus 45 degrees. The display shall remain readable at a distance of 2 meters minimum. Socketed components shall be secure against becoming dislodged by shock or vibration. Circuit board contact fingers used for interconnection with edgeboard connectors shall be gold plated. The front panel of the

45、 ammeter shall be as specified on figure 1. The ammeter displays shall be labeled: “AMPERES“, the AHM displays shall be labeled “DISCHARGE AMP-HOURS OR CHARGE AMP-HOURS 6 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-fl-24614A 999990b 1845550 998 = as appropriate, and the totalizing AMH displays shal

The pushbutton on the front panel shall be in accordance with figure 1 and be labeled: “RESET.“ 3.5.2 Terminal boards. Terminal boards shall be in accordance with MIL-T-55164. 3.53 Identification plates. The current m

47、easuring system shall be equipped with an identification plate in accordance with MIL-P-15024. The identification plates shall conform to the marking requirements of MIL-P-15024/5. 3.5.4 Enclosure. For Classes I and II the metering system shall be mounted in a Military part number M24142/6-001, size

48、 8 by 10, enclosure conforming to MIL-E-24132/6 and MIL-E-24132 with a type “B“ (flat) cover. The enclosure shall be painted in accordance with MIL-E-917, except that only one coat of gray enamel shall be applied. The outline and mounting dimensions shall be as specified on figure 2. Touching up sha

49、ll be permitted for marks or scratches due to assembly, testing or other factory handling. The metering system shall conform to MIL-E-2036. Class II1 metering systems shall have individual cases and panel covers for the three displays, see Figure 3. 3.5.5 Electronic parts. Electronic parts utilized in the metering system shall conform to MIL-STD-2036. Approval of nonstandard parts shall be required prior to submission of first article sample for testing or if first article tests are waived, prior to production of metering systems under the contract. 3.5.6 Edgeboard c
