Security latches covered bythis outline do not have any exposed parts on the exterior side of the door.1.2 A security latch shall provide a degree of protection against:a) Static strength rating of 1500 pounds-force (6673 N). See 9.2.1.b
、) Dynamic strength rating of 70 foot-pounds-force (95 J). See 9.3.1.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this Outline of Investigation shallcomply with the requirements for that component.2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement
、 that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this Outline of Investigation; orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this Outline of Investigation.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the
、intended conditions ofuse.2.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in performance capabilities.Such components are intended for use only under limited conditions, such as certain temperatures notexceeding specified limits, and shall be used only under those speci

、ests9.1 Static and dynamic strength tests9.1.1 When installed as intended in the test fixture described in Section 8, a security latch device is to besubjected to a static strength test followed by a dynamic strength test.9.1.2 The static and dynamic strength tests are to be conducted with the force
、 or impact applied at a point40 inches (1 m) above the bottom edge of the door and 6 inches (152 mm) in from the unhinged edge.9.2 Static strength test9.2.1 With the security latch device in the locked condition, force is to be applied at the point specified in9.1.2 at a rate not slower than 10 poun
、ds-force (44 N) nor faster than 20 pounds-force (90 N), per seconduntil the static strength is reached and is held for 1 minute. The rated static strength shall be 1500pounds-force (6673 N), as specified in 1.2. The force is to be measured at the point where the force isapplied.AUGUST 31, 2012UL 103
