40、ed.2.2.2 The mixture proportion shall be designed for a minimum LMC overlay compressive strength of 3000 psi for opening LMC overlay to traffic, unless otherwise specified.2.3Thickness2.3.1 This Specification covers LMC overlays with thick-ness limits of 1.25 in. (minimum) and 4.0 in. (maximum), unl

41、ess otherwise specified.PART 3EXECUTION3.1Equipment3.1.1 Surface preparationUse surface preparation equipment capable of removing deleterious material that would inhibit bond of the overlay. This equipment includes:3.1.1.1 Scarifiers, milling or hydrodemolition equipment capable of removing 1/2 in.

42、or more of concrete from the surface without producing extensive microcracking;3.1.1.2 Blasters (sand, water, and shot) capable of removing laitance, rust scale from reinforcing steel, and chips of partially loosened concrete and extensive micro-cracked concrete;3.1.1.3 Jackhammers (30 lb or less) a

43、nd chipping hammers (15 lb or less); and3.1.1.4 Saws capable of sawing concrete to the specified depth.3.1.2 MixingUse a mobile mixer meeting the require-ment of ASTM C685, with the modifications by section in accordance with Table 3.1.2.3, unless otherwise specified. The mobile mixer shall include

44、the following:3.1.2.1 A delivery capacity of at least 6 yd3/h;3.1.2.2 A meter with a printout to measure and record cement dosage; and3.1.2.3 A water hose and nozzle for spraying the concrete surface before placing overlay.3.1.3 PlacementUse street brooms for brushing mortar fraction of the LMC onto

45、 prepared surface, and use shovels and hoes for spreading newly placed concrete in front of finishing machine. Use spud vibrators for consolidation of concrete thicker than 2.5 in. and concrete that cannot be reached by the finishing machine.3.1.4 FinishingUse the following finishing equipment:3.1.4

46、.1 A self-propelled rotating cylinder machine, either single or double roller, capable of forward and reverse move-ment under positive control. Equip the machine with devices that will automatically and continuously spread, consolidate, and finish the fresh concrete;Table 2.2.1Mixture proportion lim
