SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers o

2、ne type of trainer for use in the preliminary instruction of the United States Armed Forces in the use and maintenance of the 90-mm gun, M3. The trainer is designated Trainer, Gunnery, Tank,. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials.-The materials used in the manufacture of the trainer units shall be in accordance with Specification 60-0-1 and as hereinafter specied.

10、Unless otherwise spec- ified, materials or equipment designated on the applicable drawings as “commercial” shall be the best quality available. They shall be suit- able for the intended purpose, and shall be free of defects which may affect their serviceability or appearance. 3.2 Performance.-The tr

11、ainer units, fully assembled, shall function properly in all details, as determined by the tests prescribed in Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MILT3183 3.3 Components.-me complete trainer shall consist basically of a modiied tank turr

12、et unit and a power unit, with each unit mounted on a separate dolly. 3.4 Turret u fabricated of espanded metal, shall be provided to completely encircle the dolly as shown on the applicable drawings. 3.4.2 Omters,-The turret. dolly shall be provided with two rigid (nonswiveling) and four swivel cas

13、ters bolted to the dolly legs as shown on the applicable drawings. The casters - shall have sufcient capacity to support the com- bined weight of the dally, turret, and personnel as specified in 3.4.1. 3.4.2.1 Wheels and axh.-The caster wheels shall be fabricated of metal and shall be mounted on axl

14、es of the bolt and nut type. A suitable means shall be provided to prevent the nut from unscrewing. 3.4.2.2 Bearings.-Wheels shall be mounted on antifriction bearings of the ball or roller type. Swivel type casters shall be provided with antifriction bearings in the swivel. The balls or rollers shal

15、l be of chrome nickel she1 and the races shall be ground. designed as to minimize the possibility of the caster wheels rubbing or binding between the arms. 3.4.3 Jmh.-The turret dolly shall be pro- vided with three leveling jacks positioned as shown on the applicable drawings. . 16、ist basically of a threaded barrel and screw, and a base. 19、he engine shall maintain a suitable operating temperature under full load, no load, and all load conditions between full load and no load, at specified gov- erned speed. (See 3.5.2.6.) The engine shall cool satisfactorily under all conditions of speed and load throughout an ambient temperature of 12

The engine shall be capable of operation on 72-octane-grade motor fuei con- forming to Specification W-M-561 without objectionable increase in required maintenance. The engine shall operate satisfactorily on engine oil conforming to Sp

22、ecification 2-104. 3.53.6 Ghem.-J!he engine shall be pro- vided with a governor of the mechanical type, set to a speed not in excesa of the maximum speed recommended by the engine manufw- .turer. After being set, the governor shall be /-7 - sealed in such 4J.2 Find inspection.-After complete as- sem

23、bly of the trainer units, a thorough inspec- tion shall be made for appearance and to insure that all mechanisms and accessories function 4.2 Place of inspection and tests.-Unless otherwise specified, materials, parts, assemblies, and complete trainer units shall be inspected and tested at the place

24、 of manufacture. 43 Performance tests.-After assembly, * smoothly and dependably. each unit shall be op&r&d under all conditions of service (except that the guns are not bs fired) withinits range to prove to the satisfac- tion of the inspector that it is suitable for the intended purpose. Adjustment

25、s shall be fully testedin all positions within their minimum and maximum ranges in order to discover manufac- turing defects or interferences. 4.4 Retes&.-When correction of defects is required as a result of performance tests, the trainer units in which the cor&tion has been made shall be resubmitt

26、ed to any or all the p0r- formance tests deemed necessary by the in- spector. 4.5 Final acceptance.-The trainer units shall be finally accepted only after they have satisfactorily undergone all inspection and tests prescribed in this specification, and after they have been prepared for shipment 98s

27、required in section 5. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preparation. 5.1.1 Ser&ng.-Trainer units shall be thoroughly lubricated (see 6.2) as prescribed in Specification 60-0-1, and the power unit shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with the applicable requirements of Specification .5.1.2 orr

28、oson prevention-Trainer units shall be processed for domestic or overseas ship- ment or for storage in accordance with current directives or as directed by the bureau or agency concerned.
