5、 Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:4.1.1 Quantity of each size,4.1.2 Width and thickness (see 13),4.1.3 Copper-bearing steel base metal, when required (see5),4.1.4 Class of coating (see 11), and4.1.5 Packaging requirements (se
6、e 17).5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 The base metal shall be steel made by the open-hearth,basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace process and of such qualitythat when processed and coated with zinc, the finished tapeshall have the properties and characteristics prescribed in thisspecification.5.2 The un
7、coated tape shall have a mill finish and may haveeither a mill or slit edge. If the uncoated tape is manufacturedby slitting or shearing, slitting burrs shall be kept to a minimumconsistent with good commercial practice.5.3 The zinc shall be applied by either the hot-dip or theelectrogalvanizing pro
8、cess by a final operation so that allsurfaces including edges are coated.5.4 The slab zinc when used shall conform to any grade ofzinc described in Specification B 6.6. Joints6.1 The zinc-coated tape shall be furnished in coils of onecontinuous length, with not more than an average of oneweld/50 lb
9、23 kg. Only welds made prior to the zinc coatingoperation shall be permitted and the area of such welds shallconform to the standard tolerance for thickness. The weldsshall be smooth and free of sharp projections.7. Sampling7.1 During the visual inspection specified in Section 16, theinspector shall
10、 select at random, 1 sample coil from every 10coils in the first 100 coils of the lot and 1 sample coil for everyadditional 35 coils, but not less than 3 coils from the entire lot.7.2 From each coil of zinc-coated tape thus selected, asample of suitable length shall be taken for the weight ofcoating
11、 and the mechanical tests as specified in Sections 8 to12.7.3 Any sample that indicates the presence of a weld shallbe discarded and another sample shall be taken from the coilfor testing.8. Tensile Strength8.1 The zinc-coated tape shall have a tensile strength of 70ksi 483 MPa, maximum. The tensile
12、 strength shall bedetermined on longitudinal specimens consisting of the fullwidth of the tape when practical, or a straight specimen cut orsheared from the center of the tape.9. Elongation9.1 The zinc-coated tape shall have an elongation of not lessthan 10 % in 10 in. 254 mm. The elongation shall b
13、edetermined as the permanent increase in length, after failure ofa marked section of the tape specimen originally 10 in. inlength.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A05 onMetallic Coated Iron and Steel Products and is the direct responsibility ofSubcommittee A05.11 on Sh

Ductility10.1 The tape shall be capable of being bent flat on itself, either lengthwise or crosswise, without indication of failure. There shall be no base metal cracks along any bend visible tothe naked eye. Cracks at sheared edges and co

Inspection15.1 The manufacturer shall afford the inspector represent-ing the purchaser all reasonable facilities, without charge, tosatisfy him that the material is being furnished in accordancewith this specification. All t
24、ests and inspections shall be madeat the place of manufacture prior to shipment, unless otherwiseagreed upon at the time of the purchase, and shall be soconducted as not to interfere unnecessarily with the operationof the works.16. Rejection16.1 The inspector shall visually examine the entire ship-m

The purchasermay reject the entire lot if after visual examination, more than3 % of the coils in the entire lot are found defective, or if morethan 3 % of the samples selected in accordance with Section 6fail to pass any of the tests specified in Sectio
26、ns 8 to 13. If notmore than 3 % of the samples fail, a second set of samples, consisting of two specimens from each of the coils from whichthe original nonconforming samples were taken, shall be cutand tested for the nonconforming properties. If any of thesesamples fail, the purchaser may reject the
