Scope Scope*1.1 This specification covers tool stee

3、l compositions for usable shapes cast by pouring directly into suitable molds and formaster heats for remelting and casting. castings having chemical compositions similar to those of the standard wrought grades.NOTE 1A master heat is defined as any single heat of steel of certified analysis which ha

4、s been processed into suitable form (shot, ingot, etc.) forremelting.Auniform blend of master heats is also acceptable for remelting.This blend is defined as a master heat lot and its average chemical compositionshall be certified.1.2 Several grades are covered and are designated by chemical composi

5、tion shown in Table 1.1.3 Nine grades, CA-2, CD-2, CD-5, CM-2, CS-5, CS-7, CH-12, CH-13, and CO-1, are covered in this specification.The valuesstated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown inbrackets. TheNOTE 2The com

6、mittee formulating this specification has included air- and oil-hardening grades of tool steel that have been extensively used. Othercompositions will be considered for inclusion as the need arises. values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used indepe

General Conditions for Delivery3.1 Except for investment castings, material furnished to this specification shall conform to the requirements of SpecificationA781/A781M, including any supplementary requirements that are indicated in the purchase or

10、der. Failure to comply with thegeneral requirements of Specification A781/A781M constitutes nonconformance with this specification. In case of conflict betweenthe requirements of this specification and Specification A781/A781M, this specification shall prevail.3.2 Investment castings furnished to th

11、is specification shall conform to the requirements of Specification A957/A957M,including any supplementary requirements that are indicated in the purchase order. Failure to comply with the general requirementsof Specification A957/A957M constitutes nonconformance with this specification. In the case

Materials and Manufacture5.1 Heat treatment, if any, shall be as agreed between the producer and the purchaser.5.2 The steel Welding shall be made by one or more of the following processes: Electric-arc furnace or induction furnace andmay be argon-oxygen decarburization (AOD) refined. The steel

28、can be remelted in air, vacuum, or inert atmosphere. not beperformed on these grades except by approval of the purchaser.6. Chemical RequirementsComposition6.1 A chemical analysis of each heat of steel (see Alloys Note 1) for master heats and for usable cast shapes shall be made bythe manufacturer i

29、n accordance with Test Methods shall conform to the requirements prescribed in A751. Sampling shall be inaccordance with Method E59. The chemical composition thus determined shall not vary from the limits specified in Table 1.6. Inspection6.1 When specified in the purchase order, the inspector repre

30、senting the purchaser shall have access to the material subject toinspection for the purpose of witnessing the selection of samples and performance of the analytical tests. For such tests, theinspector shall have the right to indicate the pieces from which samples will be selected. Otherwise, the ma

31、nufacturer shall reportto the purchaser, or his representative, the results of the chemical analysis made in accordance with this specification.7. Keywords7.1 cast tool steel7. Rejection and Rehearing7.1 RejectionUnless otherwise specified, any rejection based on tests made in accordance with this s

32、pecification shall bereported to the manufacturer within 30 days from the date of receipt of the material.7.2 RehearingSamples tested in accordance with this specification that represent rejected material shall be preserved for threeweeks from the date of the test report. In case of dissatisfaction

33、with the results of the test, the manufacturer may make claim fora rehearing within that time.8. Packaging and Package Marking8.1 PackagingMaterial shall be packed in such a manner as to ensure safe delivery when properly transported by any commoncarrier.8.2 Package MarkingMaterial from each heat sh
