Scope*1.1 This specification covers round, square, rectangular, andspecial shape, electric-resistance-welded

3、mechanical tubing,either zinc-coated (galvanized) after welding or produced fromaluminum-coated, zinc-coated (galvanized), zinc-iron alloy-coated (galvannealed), or 55 % aluminum-zinc alloy-coatedsteel sheet. Tubing for use as electrical conduit (EMT) orintermediate metallic conduit (IMC) is not cov

4、ered by thisspecification.1.2 This specification covers mechanical tubing with out-side diameters or maximum outside dimensions ranging from12 to 15 in. 12.7 to 380.0 mm and wall thickness from 0.028to 0.180 in. 0.70 to 4.60 mm.1.3 Sizes outside the ranges listed above may be orderedprovided all oth

5、er requirements of the specification are met.1.4 This specification is expressed in both inch-pound unitsand in SI units; however, unless the purchase order specifiesthe applicable M specification designation (SI units), theinch-pound units shall apply. Process5.1 The steel shall be made from any process.5.1.1 If a specific type of melting is required by thepurchaser, it shall be stated on the purchase order.5.1.2 The primary mel

19、ting may incorporate separate degas-sing or refining and may be followed by secondary melting,using electroslag remelting or vacuum remelting. If secondarymelting is employed, the heat shall be defined as all of theingots remelted from a single primary heat.5.1.3 Steel may be cast in ingots or may b

20、e strand cast.When steel of different grades is sequentially strand cast,identification of the resultant transition material is required.The producer shall remove the transition material by anestablished procedure that positively separates the grades.5.2 For tubing produced from precoated steel shee

21、t, thecomposition of the coating shall comply with the applicablespecification.5.2.1 Specification A463/A463MCoating designation foraluminum coated-sheet.5.2.2 Specification A653/A653MCoating designation forgalvanized and galvannealed steel sheet.5.2.3 Specification A792/A792MCoating designation for

22、55 % aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel sheet.5.2.4 Other grades of coated steel sheet, as listed in Table 1and Table 2, may be used as the precoated material for the steeltubing upon agreement between the manufacturer and thepurchaser. Such steel sheet shall meet the requirements ofSpecification A463

23、/A463M, A653/A653M, A792/A792M, andA924/A924M, except for the chemical requirements.6. Manufacture6.1 Tubes shall be made by the electric-resistance weldingprocess and shall be made from hot or cold-rolled precoatedsteel.6.2 Special manufacturing practices allow for post-hotdipped galvanizing of wel

24、ded tubing. If this product is desiredall sections of this specification will apply except Tables 3 and4. Wall thickness tolerances shall be determined by agreementbetween the producer and purchaser.7. Flash Conditions7.1 The flash conditions under which tubing may befurnished are as follows: The fl

25、ash shall be removed from theoutside diameter of tubing covered by this specification.Tubing furnished to this specification may have the followingconditions of welding flash on the inside diameter.7.1.1 Flash-In All tubing in which the inside diameterwelding flash does not exceed the wall thickness

26、 or332 in.2.38 mm, whichever is less.7.1.2 Flash Controlled to 0.010 in. 0.25 mm, MaximumTubing in which the height of the remaining welding flash iscontrolled so as not to exceed 0.010 in. 0.25 mm. Thiscondition is available in over 0.750 in. 19.0 mm outsidediameter and gages consistent with Tables

27、 5 and 6.7.1.3 Flash Controlled to 0.005 in. 0.13 mm, MaximumWhen the inside diameter flash is controlled to 0.005 in. 0.13mm maximum in tubing produced to outside diameter andwall thickness, inside diameter and wall thickness, or outsidediameter and inside diameter tolerances, the remaining insided

28、iameter flash, if any, is part of the applicable inside diametertolerance. This controlled flash is available in 0.750 in. 19.0mm outside diameter or greater.7.2 Tubes shall be furnished in the following shapes, asspecified by the purchaser: round, square, rectangular, orspecial shapes (as negotiate

Surface Finish8.1 Special surface finishes as may be required for specificapplications shall be provided in the pu

44、rchase order byagreement between the producer and purchaser.9. Base Metal Chemical Composition9.1 The chemical composition of the sheet steel base metalshall conform to the requirements of Table 1.9.2 Copper-bearing steel, with 0.20 % minimum copper,may be ordered in any of the grades shown in Table

45、 1 or Table2.9.3 An analysis of each heat of steel shall be made by thebasic steel producer to determine the percentage of the ele-ments specified. The heat analysis, as supplied by the steelmelter, shall conform to the requirements of Table 1 or Table 2.9.4 When a grade is ordered under this specif

46、ication,supplying an alloy grade that specifically requires the additionof any element other than those listed for the ordered grade inTable 1 and Table 2 is not permitted.10. Coating Bath Chemical Composition10.1 When tubing is produced from precoated sheet steel,the tubing manufacturer shall furni

47、sh, upon request, a reportstating that the tubing has been manufactured from precoatedsheet steel meeting one of the following specifications: A463/A463M, A653/A653M, A792/A792M, and A924/A924M.10.2 For post-coated tubing the zinc used for coating shallbe any grade of zinc conforming to Specificatio

48、n B6.11. Product Analysis11.1 When requested on the purchase order, a productanalysis shall be made by the supplier.
