Scope*1.1 This specification2covers aluminum-alloy sand castingsdesignated a

3、s shown in Table 1.1.2 This specification is not intended for aluminum-alloysand castings used in aerospace applications.1.3 Alloy and temper designations are in accordance withANSI H35.1/H35.1M. Unified Numbering System alloy des-ignations are in accordance with Practice E527.1.4 Unless the order s

4、pecifies the “M” specification desig-nation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-pound units.1.5 For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new aluminumand aluminum alloys and their properties in this specification,see Annex A1 and Annex A2.1.6 The values stated in either SI units or inch-poun

5、d unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in nonconformancewith the standard.1.7 This standard does not purport to add

Manufacture6.1 The responsibility of furnish

46、ing castings that can be laidout and machined to the finished dimensions within thepermissible variations specified, as shown on the blueprints ordrawings, shall rest with the producer, except where patternequipment is furnished by the purchaser.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The Product shall conform t

47、o the chemical compositionlimits prescribed in Table 1. Conformance shall be determinedby the producer by taking samples at the time castings arepoured in accordance with Practice E716 and analyzed inaccordance with Test Methods E607, E1251,orE34,orEN 14242. If the producer has determined the compos

48、ition ofthe material during casting, they shall not be required to sampleand analyze the finished product.7.2 If it becomes necessary to analyze castings for confor-mance to chemical composition limits, the method used tosample castings for the determination of chemical compositionshall be by agreem

49、ent between the producer and the purchaser.Analysis shall be performed in accordance with Practice E716,Test Methods E607, E1251,orE34,orEN 14242 (ICPmethod).7.3 Other methods of analysis or in the case of a dispute themethod of analysis shall be agreed upon by the producer andthe purchaser.7.4 A sample for determining of chemical composition shallbe taken to represent the following:7.4.1 Not more than 4000 lb 2000 kg of clean castings(gates and risers removed) or a single casting pour
