1、Designation: D1712 09 (Reapproved 2014)Standard Practice forResistance of Plastics to Sulfide Staining1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D1712; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revi

2、sion. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This practice covers the determination of the resistanceof plastics to staining in the presence of sulfides.1.2 The values stat

It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of re

5、: For definitions of terms used in thispractice, refer to Terminology D883.4. Significance and Use4.1 Plastic compositions containing salts of lead, cadmium, copper, antimony, and certain other metals (as stabilizers, pigments, driers, or fillers) may stain due to the formation of ametallic sulfide wh

Examples of materials that may cause sulfidestains are rubber, industrial fumes, foods, kraft paper, etc. Thispractice provides a means of estimating the relative suscepti-bility of pl

Reagent5.1 Hydrogen Sulfide SolutionA freshly prepared satu-rated solution of hydrogen sulfide (Caution, see Section 6).Prepare the solution by rapidly bubbling hydrogen sulfide gas(Note 2) through water. Five minutes of bubbling is sufficientfor 100 to 150 m

8、L of water at room temperature (approxi-mately 23C).NOTE 2Hydrogen sulfide gas may be obtained commercially ascompressed gas in cylinders.6. Precautions6.1 Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic gas and must behandled only in a suitably ventilated area such as a hood.Avoidbreathing of vapors.7. Sampling

9、7.1 Sampling shall be in accordance with the pertinentmaterial specification or as agreed to by customer and client.8. Test Specimens8.1 Test specimens shall be representative of the particularplastic composition being tested. Size and shape of testspecimens are relatively unimportant. Specimens 100

Conditioning9.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 23 62C (73.4 6 3.6F) and 50 6 10 % relative humidity for notless than 40 h prior

11、to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D618 for those tests where conditioning is required. Incases of disagreement, the tolerances shall be 61C (61.8F)and 65 % relative humidity.9.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the standard labora-tory atmosphere of 23 6 2C (73.4 6 3.6F) and 50 6 10 %
