Composition and Properties3.1 The pigment shall be a manufactured yellow ir
5、on oxideobtained by chemical reaction. It shall be a soft, finelypowdered pigment, free of admixtures of other substances andshall conform to the following requirements:Total hydrated oxide of iron, min, % 93Total oxide of iron,Amin, % 83Loss on ignition,Amax, % 13Moisture and other volatile matter,

7、aterial.3.2 Paste in OilThe paste in oil shall be made bythoroughly grinding the specified pigment with linseed oil(with or without a small amount of volatile thinner) togetherwith (where necessary) small amounts of wetting or dispersingagents to a semipaste or fluid type consistency. As received, i
8、tshall not be caked in the container and shall break up readily inoil to form a smooth paint of brushing consistency. It shall mixreadily in all proportions, without curdling, with linseed oil,turpentine, or volatile petroleum spirits, or any mixtures ofthese substances. The paste shall conform to t

Sampling4.1 Two samples shall be taken at random from differentpackages from each lot, batch, days pack, or other unit ofproduction in a shipment. When no markings distinguishingbetween units of production appear, samples sha
12、ll be takenfrom different packages in the ratio of two samples for each4540 kg or 10 000 lb, except that for shipments of less than10 000 lb, two samples shall be taken. At the option of thepurchaser, the samples may be tested separately or afterblending in equal quantities the samples from the same
13、production unit to form a composite sample.5. Test Methods5.1 GeneralTests shall be conducted in accordance withthe appropriate ASTM test methods.
