3、This specification covers poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)threaded Schedule 80 pipe fittings. Included are requirementsfor materials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure.NOTE 1Threaded CPVC plastic pipe fittings, Schedule 80, whichwere formerly included in this standard, are now covered by Specifi

4、cationF 437.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed g

5、ases somemanufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 2Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which prese

Terminology3.1 GeneralDefinitions are in accordance with Terminol-ogy F 412, and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminol-ogy D 1600, unless otherwise indicated. The abbreviation forpoly(vinyl chloride) plastic is PVC.4. Classification4.1 Gene

16、ralThis specification covers threaded Schedule80 PVC pipe fittings, made from four PVC plastic compoundsand intended for use with threaded Iron Pipe Size (IPS)outside-diameter plastic pipe.4.1.1 Fittings covered by this specification are normallymolded. In-line fittings, such as couplings, unions, b

17、ushings,caps, nipples, etc., shall be molded or machined from extrudedstock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by back welding or butt fusion arenot included in this specification.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 This specification covers PVC pipe fittings made fromfive PVC plastics as classified in Specifica

18、tion D 1784. Theseare PVC 12454, 12454, 13354, 11443, and 14333.NOTE 3Mechanical strength, heat resistance, flammability, andchemical resistance requirements are covered in Specification D 1784.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework fitting material and the fitting

19、s pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 The dimensions and tolerances of the fittings shall beas shown in Table 1 and Table 2 when measured in accordancewith Test Method D 2122. Minimum dimensions have zeronega

20、tive tolerances. Bushings shall have thread lengths appli-cable to the corresponding sizes. Counterbore is optional, is notshown in Table 1, and is not included in the center-to-end orend-to-end dimensions.6.1.2 Fittings Not IllustratedAll fittings, whether illus-trated in Table 1 and Table 2 or not

21、, shall have wall thicknessesand thread dimensions conforming to 6.1 and 6.2.6.2 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F 1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.4.6.3 Burst Pressure:6.3.1 The burst strength of the fittings shall be not less thanthat c

Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity for not lesst

31、han 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D 618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the Standard Labora-tory Atmosphere of 73 6 3.6 F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test meth-ods or in t

Join the fittings to the pipe sufficiently strong and insuch a manner that no fai

42、lures shall occur in the assembly at apressure less than the pressure requirement given in Table 3.The time of testing each assembly shall be between 60 and 70s.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the test(s) shall be conducted

43、again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed or modified, nor shall specification limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) does not meet the requirements of

44、 thisspecification.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that they remain legible undernormal handling and installation practices.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 Fittings shall be marked with the following:10.2.1.1 Manufacturers name or

45、 trademark,10.2.1.2 Material designation PVC I for PVC 12454-B,PVC 12 for PVC 12454-C, PVC 13 for PVC 13354-C and11443-B, PVC II for PVC 14333-D,10.2.1.3 The seal or mark of the laboratory making theevaluation for potable water contact.10.2.1.4 Size, and10.2.1.5 This designation, D 2464, with which

46、this fittingcomplies.10.3 Where the size of the fittings does not allow completemarking, omit identification marking in the following se-quence: size, material designation, D 2464, manufacturersname or trademark.10.4 Markings or symbols shall be molded, hot-stamped, orapplied to fittings by any othe

47、r suitable method, such asprinting.10.5 Where recessed marking is used, care shall be taken tosee that in no case marking causes cracks or reduces the wallthickness below the minimum specified.11. Quality Assurance11.1 When the product is marked with this designation,D 2464, the manufacturer affirms

48、 that the product was manu-factured, inspected, sampled, and tested in accordance with thisspecification and has been found to meet the requirements ofthis specification.SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTSGOVERNMENT/MILITARY PROCUREMENTThe following requirements apply only to federal/military procurement, no

49、t domestic sales ortransfers.S1. Responsibility for InspectionUnless otherwise speci-fied in the contract or purchase order, the producer is respon-sible for the performance of all inspection and test require-ments specified herein. The producer may use his own or anyother suitable facilities for performance of the inspection andtest requirements specified herein, unless the purchaser disap-proves. The purchaser shall have the right to perform any of theinspections and tests set forth in this specification where suchinspections
