Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 denim, na durable woven twill fabric, usually of allcotton or a blend of cotton and man-made fibers, made from avariety of yarn numbers, and in various fabric weights, colors,designs, and finishes.3.1.1.1 DiscussionTraditionally,
7、 denim is made with in-digo blue dyed cotton warp and undyed or tinted filling. Denimfabrics are used for many types of garments including workclothes, sportswear, dresswear, and home furnishings.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 jeans, na style of trousers made of a twill fab
8、ric usedas sportswear and work clothing.3.2.2 dungaree, ntrousers made from denim and designedfor general heavy work wear.3.2.3 trouser, na garment that closes at the waist andcovers the lower body to the crotch and each leg from the waistto the ankle.3.3 For other textile terminology used in this s

Specification Requirements4.1 The properties of zippers for dungarees, jeans and worktrousers shall conform to the specification requirements inTable 1.5. Significance and
10、 Use5.1 This specification serves as a guide for the purchase ofzippers to be used for dungarees, jeans or work trousers.5.2 Upon agreement between the purchaser and the supplier,zippers intended for this end-use should meet all of therequirements listed in Table 1 of this specification.5.3 It is re
11、cognized that for purposes of fashion or aestheticsthe ultimate consumer may find acceptable dungarees, jeans orwork trousers, having zippers that do not conform to all of therequirements in Table 1. Therefore, one or more of therequirements listed in Table 1 may be modified by agreementbetween the
12、purchaser and the supplier.5.3.1 In such cases, and references to this specification shallspecify that: This zipper meets Performance SpecificationD4465 except for the following characteristic(s).5.4 Where no prepurchase agreement has been reachedbetween the purchaser and the supplier, and in case o

Sampling6.1 Description of LotsUnless there is prior agreement,consider as a lot for acceptance testing all material of a singleitem received as a single shipment.6.2 Lot Samples and Laboratory SamplesFor acceptancetesting, take lot samples and laboratory samples as directed inea
18、ch of the applicable test methods.6.3 Test SpecimensTake the number of specimens directedin each of the applicable test methods. Take the specimens, andperform the tests on zippers as received by the garmentmanufacturer or on zippers removed from unused garments.6.3.1 If the method does not specify
19、the number of speci-mens and there has been no prior agreement, use the proce-dures in Practice D2905 to determine the number of specimensper unit in the laboratory sample when using a reliable estimateof the variability of individual observations on similar materi-als in the users laboratory under
20、conditions of single-operatorprecision. The number of specimens per unit in the laboratorysample shall be such that the user may expect at the 95 %probability level that each test result is not more than 5 % ofthe average above or below the true average for the unit in thelaboratory sample.7.
