3、ylene(UHMW-PE) solid plastic shapes for commercial use.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor the material and properties of solid plastic shapes manu-factured from UHMW-PE.1.2 The properties included in this specification are thoserequired for the compositions covere

4、d and are derived frommolded samples or fabricated from sheet, rod and profiles.Requirements necessary to identify particular characteristicsimportant to specialized applications may be described byusing the classification system given in Section 4.1.3 This specification allows for the use of recycl

5、ed plastics(as defined in Guide D 5033).1.4 The values are stated in SI units and are regarded as thestandard in all property tables. For reference purposes, Englishunits are also included in Table S-UHMW-PE and Table A.1.5 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest method portions

6、of this specification. This standard doesnot purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any,associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of thisstandard to establish appropriate safety and health practicesand determine the applicability of regulatory requirementsprior to use.

18、dditives present, asdefined in Table S-UHMW-PE.4.2.2 Every type of UHMW-PE solid plastic shape may becategorized into one of two grades as follows:4.2.2.1 Grade l: General Purpose (Virgin) UHMW-PEUHMW-PE solid plastic shapes are made using only 100 %virgin UHMW polyethylene resin which meets the req

19、uire-ments of Specification D 4020. If appropriate, the resin maycontain additives, such as processing aids, stabilizers andcolorants. Physical Property Requirements5.1 The data listed within this specifications tables are to beconsidered minimum values. Any requirement for specific testdata for a given pr

29、oduction lot should be specified at the timeof order. All physical property data listed in TableS-UHMW-PE shall be provided by the supplier of the solidplastic shapes on demand. Physical property data for productsnot yet included in Table S-UHMW-PE may be specified usingTable A for UHMW-PE solid pla

30、stic shapes.6. Dimensional Requirements6.1 Products shall be supplied in the unfinished condition,unless otherwise specified at the time of order, sufficient tofinish to the nominal dimension ordered.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 AppearanceThe color of products shall be as pub-lished by

31、the manufacturer, within commercial tolerances.They shall be uniform in color throughout the thickness.Specific colors and color matching only as agreed to by order.Physical properties may be affected by colors.7.2 FinishAll products shall have a finish consistent withcurrent manufacturing processes

32、.8. Sampling8.1 Sampling shall be statistically adequate to satisfy therequirements of this standard.9. Number of Tests9.1 The criteria listed in these product tables and definitionsare sufficient to establish conformity of the sheet to thisspecification. When the number of test specimens is not sta

33、tedin the test method, single determination may be made. If morethan single determinations and separate portions of the samesample are made, the results shall be averaged. The final resultshall conform to the requirements prescribed in this specifica-tion.10. Test Conditions10.1 Conditioning of Spec

34、imensThe specification valuesand dimensions are based on conditioning techniques outlinedin Practice D 618 Procedure A.10.2 Testing of SpecimensThe tests shall be conducted atthe standard laboratory conditions at (23C 6 2C).11.
