Classification4.1 Horizontal slide gates covered by this specification shallbe of the types described in

6、4.1.1 and 4.1.2.4.1.1 Type IOverhead SlideAny horizontal slide gatesupported only from above.4.1.2 Type IICantilever SlideAny horizontal slide gatespanning an opening lacking a top or bottom support withinthat opening. Type II gates shall be supplied in one of twoclasses:4.1.2.1 Class 1Steel frame g

7、ates and aluminum framegates using external rollers.4.1.2.2 Class 2Steel frame gates and aluminum framegates using internal rollers.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 MaterialsThe base materials of the gate frame shallbe round or rectangular tubular members, welded at all corners.However, bolted or riv

8、eted, or both, field assemblies ofmodular panels are permitted.5.1.1 The interior vertical or horizontal bracing, whenneeded, shall be the same metal tubular material and finish asthe gate frame, but need not be the same size.5.2 ManufactureGate frames shall be fabricated, andcoated where necessary,

9、 as described in 5.2.1 through 5.2.6.For gates intended to be automated, manufacture shall conformto the applicable provisions of Specification F2200.5.2.1 Zinc-Coated Steel Frames shall be in accordance withSpecifications F1043 or F1083, or a combination thereof, andshall match that selected for an

10、y adjoining fence framework.Welded joints shall be coated in accordance with PracticeA780, employing a zinc-rich paint conforming to 4.2.2 ofPractice A780 and following only the procedures outlined inA2.1.3 and A2.1.4 of Practice A780.5.2.2 Aluminum Alloy Gate Frames shall be in accordancewith Speci

11、fication F1043 and shall meet the performancecriteria described in this specification.5.2.3 Polymer-Coated Steel or Polymer-Coated AluminumFrames shall be in accordance with Specification F1043 andshall match that selected for any adjoining fence framework.Welded joints on steel gate frames shall be

12、 coated in accor-dance with Practice A780, employing a zinc-rich paint con-forming to 4.2.2 of Practice A780 and following only theprocedures outlined in A2.1.3 and A2.1.4 of Practice A780.The painted areas shall then be top-coated to match the framecolor.5.2.4 Chain Link Gate FabricThe fabric shall

13、 be asspecified for the adjoining fence.5.2.5 Barbed Wire TopWhen specified, the barbed wiretop shall have extensions to the gate frame to accommodatethree strands of barbed wire uniformly spaced and positionedso that the top strand is approximately 1 ft (0.305 m) above thetop horizontal member of t

Barbed wire shall be attached by suitab

17、le meansto prevent wire from moving out of position and shall besupported by the gate frame extensions at maximum intervalsof 10 ft (3.05 m).5.2.6 Barbed TapeThe minimum height for barbed tapeinstalled at the top of gates intended to be automated shall bein accordance with Specification F2200.6. Dim

18、ensions6.1 Width of gate opening shall be measured from oneinside face to the other inside face of the gate posts.6.2 Height of gate shall be measured from the finished gradeline to the top edge of the gate frame, to match the height of theadjoining fence as measured from the finished grade line to

19、thetop edge of the top rail or fabric.7. Gate Accessories7.1 All gate hardware shall be of sufficient strength anddurability to support the gate and repeated open-close cycles.7.2 In addition, latches shall have a provision for lockingdevices.8. Additional Specifications for Type I Gates8.1 The spec

20、ifications given in 8.1.1 through 8.1.7 shallapply only to Type I (overhead slide) gates with openingwidths up to 40 ft (12.2 m).8.1.1 Materials and ManufactureIn addition to thewelded construction specified in 5.1, the gate frame may bealternatively assembled with corner fittings. Gates assembledwi

21、th corner fittings shall have adjustable truss rods of516 in.(7.9 mm) minimum diameter on panels 5 ft (1.52 m) wide orwider. Truss rods shall be of the same base metal and finish asthe gate frame.8.1.2 Shape and SizeShape and size of the gate frameshall conform to procurement drawings or shall be of

22、 the shapeand size as specified. The gate frame width shall be the widthof the gate opening plus the diameter of one gate post.8.1.3 Dimension and WeightGate frame members shallhave dimensions and weights as described in Table 1.8.1.4 Gate PostsGates having an opening width of up to10 ft (3.05 m) an

23、d an overhead clearance of up to 14 ft (4.27m) shall be supported by steel posts with a nominal outsidediameter of 2.875 in. (73.02 mm) and a minimum weight of4.64 lb/linear ft (6.91 kg/m). Gates having an opening widthlarger than 10 ft (3.05 m) but up to 24 ft (7.32 m) with anoverhead clearance of

24、up to 22 ft (6.71 m) shall be supportedby steel posts with a nominal outside diameter of 4.00 in.(101.6 mm) and a minimum weight of 6.56 lb/linear ft (9.77kg/m). Gates having an opening width larger than 22 ft (6.7 m)but up to 40 ft (12.2 m) and an overhead clearance of up to 22ft (6.71 m) shall be

25、supported by a double set of steel postswith a nominal outside diameter of 4.00 in. (101.6 mm) and aminimum weight of 6.56 lb/linear ft (9.77 kg/m), or a single setof steel posts with a nominal outside diameter of 6.625 in.(168.3 mm) and a minimum weight of 18.97 lb/linear ft (28.27kg/m). For post l

26、engths over 24 ft (7.32 m), a single weld buttjoint reinforced by an internal sleeve at least 2 ft (0.61 m) inlength will be permitted. Gate posts shall be installed inaccordance with Practice F567.8.1.5 Gate Support MemberThe overhead track supportmember shall be as indicated in the project specifi

27、cations. Thesupport member shall extend over the gate opening span andthe adjacent span at the specified ground clearance. Thesupport member shall be of adequate length to ensure a clearopening. The track and member shall have proper corrosionprotection.8.1.6 Roller AssemblyThe gate shall be suspend

28、ed fromthe overhead track member by means of suitable internal orexternal roller assemblies. These roller assemblies shall consistof at least two swivel type trucks having sealed lubricant ballbearing wheels, or roller bearing wheels with grease fittings,and include a means to assure that the trucks

29、 remain properlyaligned in or on the track during all normal operations of thegate.8.1.7 Gate ExtensionsGate extensions, which consist ofvertical members which span the distance between the top ofthe gate and the overhead track, shall be attached to the gateframe by means of a threaded or bolted cou

30、pling, or acombination of both.8.1.8 Gate Extension BracingSuitable diagonal or hori-zontal bracing, or both, shall be provided to ensure properrigidity of the gate during normal operation.9. Additional Specifications for Type II Gates9.1 The specifications given in 9.1.1 through 9.1.8 shallapply on

31、ly to Type II (cantilever slide) gates with openingwidths up to 30 ft (9.1 m) and heights (see 5.2) up to 8 ft (2.4m).9.1.1 Shape and SizeShape and size of the gate frameshall conform to procurement drawings or shall be of the shapeand size as specified. The gate frame width shall be the widthof the

32、 opening plus the diameter of one gate post, plus anoverhang or counterbalance panel of at least 40 % of the widthof the opening. 36、 and Class 2 gateswith tubular steel frames shall conform to the dimensions andweights in Table 2.9.1.2 Gate PostsGates having an opening width of up to12 ft (3.7 m) shall be supported by steel posts with a nominaloutside diameter of 2.875 in. (73.03 mm) and a minimumweight of 4.64 lb/linear ft (6.9

37、1 kg/m). Gates having anopening width larger than 12 ft (3.7 m) shall be supported bysteel posts with a nominal outside diameter of 4.00 in. (101.6mm) and a minimum weight of 6.56 lb/linear ft (9.77 kg/m).Gate posts shall be installed in accordance with Practice F567.9.1.3 Guide Posts (for Class 1 G

38、ates Only)Guide postsfor all Class 1 gates equal to the height of the gate shall beinstalled adjacent to each gate support post (see Fig. 1). Thegate shall slide between the gate support posts and the guideposts. Guide posts shall be the same as, or one pipe diametersmaller than, the gate support po

39、sts and shall have a minimumweight of 3.11 lb/ft (4.63 kg/m).9.1.4 Roller Assembly:9.1.4.1 External rollers for Class 1 gates shall be galvanized,malleable iron riding on a caged cylindrical roller or needlebearing. The bearing shall extend a minimum of 90 % of thewidth of the inside of the roller w

40、heel, turn on a steel axle shaftand be housed within a steel bearing race or sleeve. Thebearing shall not ride on any surface of the iron casting. Theroller shall be drilled, tapped and equipped with a greasefitting. Roller assemblies shall be secured to the gate posts witha minimum of two58 in. (15

41、.9 mm) diameter “U” bolts, nuts,and lock washers for each assembly.9.1.4.2 Internal rollers for Class 2 gates shall consist of twoswivel type trucks having sealed lubricant ball bearing wheelsand a means to assure that the trucks remain properly alignedin the track during all normal operations of th

42、e gate.9.1.4.3 Top Roller GuardsTop external rollers for Class 1gates shall be covered by top roller guards (see Fig. 2). Toproller guards shall be designed to help lessen pinch points,thereby helping eliminate possible injuries from top externalrollers. The top roller guards shall be installed to h

43、elp providea safe opening from the bottom edge of the guard to the topedge of the gate frame. The maximum opening between thegate frame and the guard shall be 0.25 in. (6.4 mm).9.1.4.4 Bottom Protective PlatesBottom external rollersfor Class 1 gates shall have a bottom roller protective plateattache

44、d (see Fig. 2). The bottom protective plate shall besecured behind the cotter pin (or behind the nut and cotter pin,if used) on the roller axle.9.1.5 Performance CriteriaAll Class 2 gates shall per-form to the minimum criteria outlined in Table 3 and shall beinstalled to manufacturers specifications

45、.All minimum perfor-mance criteria for the fabric or other filler material and otheraccessories installed shall be met, including a gate operatorwhere specified.9.1.6 Field AdjustmentAll gates shall be designed with ameans to adjust the vertical alignment of the gate in the field.9.1.7 LatchingAll g

46、ates shall be designed with sufficientlateral stability to assure that the gate will enter a catcher whichhas a 12 in. (305 mm) width (6 in. (152 mm) on each side fromcenter) under wind loads as indicated and using the particularmeans of operation as indicated in the project specifications.9.1.8 Ass
