Materials and Manufacture6.1 Standard Commercial ProductA tread of the sameclassification shall, as a minimum, be in accordance with t

17、herequirements of this specification and shall be the manufactur-ers standard commercial product. A standard commercialproduct is a product that has been sold or is currently beingoffered for sale on the commercial market throughadvertisements, manufacturers catalogs, or brochures andrepresents the

18、latest production model.6.2 Tread DesignThe upper surface of tread shall haveone or a combination of the following:Class 1 Smooth (Flat)Class 2 Pattern: Embossed, Grooved, or RibbedGroup 1 Abrasive Strips: EmbeddedGroup 2 Contrasting Color for Visually Impaired6.2.1 Class 1, Smooth (Flat)The tread s

19、urface shall besmooth and flat.6.2.2 Class 2, Pattern: Embossed, Grooved, or RibbedWhen the surface is embossed, grooved or ribbed, the depth ofthe design shall not be greater than 50 % of the overallthickness of the tread.6.2.3 Group 1, Abrasive Strips (Embedded)Whenspecified, one or more mineral-c

20、oated abrasive grit strips, eachstrip not less than 0.030-in. (0.76 mm) thick, shall be recessedinto and adhered to the top surface of a smooth surface treadportion to form a continuous flat surface overall. Each stripshall run the full length of the treads and shall be parallel to thenose of the tr

21、ead. The front edge of the first strip shall be notmore than 1 in. (25.4 mm) from the nose of the step or landing.If a second strip is used, it shall be34 (19 mm) to 112 in. (38mm) from the first strip.6.2.4 Group 2, Contrasting Color for Visually ImpairedThe tread shall contain a strip of contrasti

22、ng color of either thesame material or an abrasive material.6.3 Nosing StyleNosing style shall be as specified (seeFigs. 1-3 for some typical styles).6.4 ColorAccording to manufacturers latest catalogs, andactual samples. Sample color may vary with age and storageconditions.7. Performance Requiremen

23、ts7.1 HardnessThe treads shall have a durometer hardnessas follows:Grade 1 85Grade 2 70 but less than 85 (Shore, Type A, instantaneousreading) when tested in accordance with Test Method D2240.7.2 Molded Stair TreadsThe bonding surface of the treadshall be sanded, roughened, or otherwise modified by

24、themanufacturer to remove substances that may interfere withproper adhesion.7.3 Tread BacksUnless otherwise specified in the contractor order, the back or bonding surface of the rubber tread shallbe sanded, buffed, roughened, ribbed/grooved, or otherwisemodified to ensure proper adhesion.7.4 Resista

25、nce to Chemicals, Short-Term ExposureWhentested in accordance with Test Method F925, the vinyl andrubber treads shall have no more than a slight change in surfacedulling, surface attack, or staining when exposed to thefollowing chemicals:White Vinegar (5 % Acetic Acid)Rubbing Alcohol (70 % Isopropyl

26、 Alcohol)Sodium Hydroxide Solution (5 % NaOH)Hydrochloric Acid Solution (5 % HCl)Sulfuric Acid Solution (5 % H2SO4)Household Ammonia Solution (5 % NH4OH)Household Bleach Solution (5.25 % NaOCl)NOTE 1These basic chemicals are representative of those likely to befound in domestic, commercial, and inst

27、itutional use. Many proprietarycompounds contain one or more of these basic chemicals. 28、IG. 3 With RiserF2169 15127.5 Resistance to HeatWhen tested in accordance to TestMethod F1514, the color change of the resilient stair treadsshall have an average E not greater than 8.0 after 7 daysexposure to 158F (70C).7.6 Resistance to LightExisting Q-UV and Xenon-Arctest methods used to test rub

29、ber floor tiles, rubber sheets andrubber stair treads resulted in extremely high failure rateswhich are not typical in everyday use of these products.8. Dimensions and Permissible Variations8.1 Dimensions of Rubber and Vinyl TreadsRubber andvinyl tread dimensions shall be as specified. The nominal s

30、izeshall be the actual length and depth of the tread portion (seeFigs. 1-3).8.2 ThicknessThe thickness of resilient stair treads shallbe the manufacturers standard or as specified. Thicknesstolerances shall be 6132 in. (0.8 mm) when tested in accor-dance with Test Method F386.NOTE 2When butting stai

31、r treads together on one stair, there shouldbe no more than116 in. (1.6 mm) thickness difference between the twoadjoining treads.8.3 LengthThe length of resilient stair treads shall be themanufacturers standard, or as specified, and can be longer tobe trimmed to fit. Length shall be measured in acco

32、rdance with8.5.8.4 DepthThe depth of resilient stair treads shall be themanufacturers standard or as specified. Depth tolerances shallbe 618 in. (3.2 mm) when measured in accordance with 8.5.8.5 Length and Depth MeasurementsMeasurements shallbe made with a calibrated 100 ft (30 m) steel tape graduat

33、ed atintervals of116 in. or 1 mm. The tread shall be extended to itsfull length on a flat surface and all creases and bucklesremoved, without applying stresses that cause any significantstretching. Measurements of length shall be rounded to thenearest inch (10 mm). Net depth shall be measured to the

34、nearest116 in. (1 mm) at not less than two locations uniformlydistributed along the length of each tread and the resultsaveraged.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The tread base furnished in accordance with this speci-fication shall be free of defects, which adversely affect perfor-mance or

35、appearance. Such defects include blemishes, spots,lines, indentations, blisters, and delamination.10. Sampling for Test10.1 Sampling for testing physical characteristics listed inTable 1 shall be done in accordance with the provisions setforth in ANSI/ASQC Z1.4-2003. The inspection level shall bespe

36、cial inspection level S-I, as noted in Table I of ANSI/ASQCZ1.4-2003, and acceptable quality level (AQL) shall be 6.5defects per hundred units as noted in Table II-A of ANSI/ASQC Z1.4-2003 or as otherwise specified in 10.2. The lotshall be expressed in units. A unit represents a single,manufactured,

37、 inventoried, finished carton or piece.10.2 Sampling for testing physical characteristics listed inTable I of ANSI/ASQC Z1.4-2003 shall be agreed upon by thepurchaser and manufacturer as part of the procurement docu-ment.11. Inspection11.1 Sampling for inspection of the tread for defects thatwould a

38、dversely affect performance (see 9.1) shall be done inaccordance with the provisions set forth in ANSI/ASQCZ1.4-2003. The inspection level shall be Level I as noted inTable I of ANSI/ASQC Z1.4-2003 with an acceptable qualitylevel (AQL) of 6.5 defects per hundred as noted in Table II-Aof ANSI/ASQC Z1

39、.4-2003 or as otherwise specified in 11.2.The lot size shall be expressed in units. A unit represents asingle, manufactured, inventoried carton or piece.11.2 Inspection of the tread for defects that would adverselyaffect performance (see 9.1) shall be agreed upon by thepurchaser and the manufacturer

40、 as part of the procurementdocument.12. Certification12.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, amanufacturers certification and any other documents requiredto substantiate certification shall be furnished to the purchaserthat the product was manufactured to meet this specification.13. 41、roduct Marking13.1 Unless otherwise specified, the carton of stairtreadshall be marked with the name of the material as defined by thecontract or purchase order under which the shipment is made,the length, thickness, composition, type, color, the quantitycontained therein, and the name of the manufa

42、cturer.13.2 When product sample sets, sample set cover cards, andmarketing and technical literature reference this specification,the complete product classification information relative to thisspecification shall be included.14. Packaging and Packing14.1 Unless otherwise specified, the stairtread sh
